The Night Shift

Here's where we go to kick back after the races with our pals. Pour a tall one, punch a few buttons on the jukebox, and relax...

I just noticed in that picture, me and Kim have "halos" (Kim's is that wreath on the wall and mine's the fan on the shelf) but Tom's halo is off to his left and he's trying to get his head inside of it...

This was from the Seabrook Music Festival, 2003 headlining set that I was talking about. Something about that set ignited the crowd and the band, and we played 10 stories above our heads. The stage monitors didn't work, and we couldn't hear ourselves, but we played with more energy and passion than we'd ever played before. Shorttsy told me out front it sounded ubelievable and the visual impact of my rock 'n roll joker face over the howling, swirling music just flat knocked him out. I completely went nuts during that set. I was posessed or something. I cannot duplicate that, ever again. I didn't know if I still had this picture. That's Lynn in the background, playing slide guitar. The Wildcat avatar is on Rodger's bass drum head behind my leg. He still has it on there and he told me everywhere he's played, people dig it. I gave the '79 Strat I'm playing in this picture to my son Nick (I mean Chris). He's upstairs playing it right now. Cheers, WC1

Maybe the mask gave you just enough cover to come out of your shell and go for it without holding anything back! bp

Thanks, I had all but forgotten the Wildcats...tonight I did an internet search on Johnny B and the Wildcats and this amazing website came up...it's part of Rafael Brom's Marianland.com website. Rafael did the Citykings current site as well, but I do not recommend browsing marianland.com, the reason being that Rafael's religious and political convictions make Opus Dei and the John Birch Society look like Boy Scouts at Sunday school. But he put a Johnny B and the Wildcats website that includes writings I did in the 90s and it links up to the current Citykings site as well as Rafael's old CKs site, and then it links to Tortuga Music's Citykings site out of LA and my 9-CD set from the 80s and 90s, "Orchards"...none of this stuff has been touched in years, but all of Shorttsy's photos from that magical night at the Seabrook Music Festival are featured...and yes, BP, the mask was the key...Cheers, WC1

Then I checked my email and this came in from Pam, who came out to the Cock-Eyed Seagull to see Shakedown Friday night...Toree sat in with us for a few tunes and she and Brandi put on a wild show...
My name with Shakedown is Johnny Keys...this made my day...all respects to wife Miss Debby. She's used to this stuff so I can show y'all...

Thank you for a great time! Laurie and I had such a good time. We got
home about 30 minutes ago safely. Brandi was worried about us getting
home OK. I alway quit drinking at least 1 hour before I drive. I made
her sit there for a while then we went to dennys across the street. So
please let her know we are OK. I have to tell you I really was hoping
to hear Brandi sing more. I really love her singing and was wondering
if that Tori chick is in every gig or just that one? Tell Mikey or
(Kisha) I really enjoyed dancing with his ass. HEHEHE!!! Willie is as
funny as ever. and as for the Key board
guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's always just
right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I
suck with names. All you need now is a saxophone and some really sexy
songs. Thank you for a great time.
PS. When are you playing with just the band singing? Hey that guy that
sings the REM song Fire is great! Well anyway. I love you
guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See you soon. Pam

Lynn's reply:
You are so sweet! I am just now reading my emails and we wondering if y'all got home ok. Glad to hear you did.
Toree just sits in now and then, so don't worry....more Brandi next time!
Johnny Keys is our keyoardist and he is the man!
Thanks to you and Laurie for coming out. We appreciate your support. Actually Pam, you are probably Shakedown's most faithful friend and fan. You rock! We'll be emailing you soon!
Lynn
