Cat, I'm always up to "something"......and every once in a while....it's actually something constructive ......

Currently, I'm at a buddy's place workin' on another one of his hot rods...(Chevy 2 that his brother and I replaced the stock front suspension with a Mustang 2 crossmember and A-arms.....and I updated the cage with rocker bars and a funny car cage and am fitting new lummynum panels in tonight....ok...ok...so at the moment, I'm typing this...but you get the idea ......) When I leave here tomorrow afternoon, I'll go to the house for a short short (get some clean duds etc) and then I'm headed to Tim's to do a "little" bit of work on a Mud Truck project that we started 2 weeks ago...then "hopefully" we will drop that lil' ol' 514 where it belongs to be.......

At this point in time, I have no idea if this new chassis, motor etc is going to run what I "want" it to run (somewhere in the 5.30 range. 1/8th mile) but after 5 years of not having my toy at the playground, I really don't care WHAT it runs as long as it DOES run "something"....Know what I mean??

boy oh boy that motor looks a LOT better between the frame rails than it did sitting on the engine stand!!......Got the headers built (had to fab up my own flanges out of some 1/4 inch by 3-1/2 inch flat bar....MAN...there was an abundance of whittlin' with the die grinder on those things )........also have the tranny and converter all tucked away where they belong...as well as the radiator. Unfortunately, though, the radiator didn't come with any provision for a radiator "cap"....so I am having to fabricate one of those too......that's ok.....I get to make it like I want it.......what I am doing in that regard is.....I am going to replace the stock thermostat housing with a fabricated couple of pieces of some stainless steel plate and tubing....I will be able to fill the motor with water at the intake, rather than at the radiator (like a normal car).....and Yes, I know.....everybody and his brother's girlfriend makes an aftermarket fill neck set up for a Chevrolet....they even make 'em for Mopar's and small block Ford's......but NOBODY makes one for a Big Block Ford. (at least nobody that "I" have been able to stumble across)......Besides....if they DID make one....what fun would THAT be???

Virtually ALL of the wiring is DONE!!......I test fired all the different components Sunday afternoon........
Tranz brake....engages....(and indicator lights function)
Starter solenoid.....clicks
radiator fans spin (and in the correct direction too
Water pump....whirrrrs (didn't let that run but a quick second, because it is dry)
Fuel Pump....whirrrrs...(same as water pump....just a quick on and off deal)
Line lock....clicks
Brake lights.....function when they are supposed to
Dash and tail lights....work, but I probably need to replace the passenger side socket, because it needs to be wiggled to light up.

I am going to have to have another driveshaft made, (mine ended up shrinking over the past 5 years, by about 2 inches

All that is left to do to the fuel system, is get a -12 fitting for my fuel cell, so I can hook up the plumbing to the pump and then a fitting or two (or a dozen) to go from the regulator to the carb.
I fixed up my overflow tank (from the fill cap location) so that "IF" this beast starts to get hot under the collar, and wants to spit water out....that water will get dumped on top of my header collector on the passenger side.....that way....any expelled liquid will be instantly turned to steam, rather than a wet spot on the track for my slick to run through.

Late Saturday night, I got my plug wires made up and fitted, so that is one less thing I need to accomplish....now I just need some plugs to attach the wires to
and OH Yeah!.....I had to change out the button for my Aaooggah horn....I had one of those little cheapy type horn buttons next to my switch panel up in the ceiling....but I went to test it the other night and the damn thing got stuck!!! .....I had to yank the power shut off lever back to the off position before I woke Tim and his wife up...(it was, afterall...about 2:30 in the morning )....Now there is a large red (tranzbrake style) button for me to mash when folks get in the way in the pits

But for the lack of (at the present time) a couple of batteries, a set of spark plugs, a little machine work on my wishbone slider and a little body work plus a squirt or three of paint....I could be racin' VERY soon!!!!...(can you tell I'm excited about that^^???? ....(ooops...WC1 reminded me of that presently too short drive shaft that needs replacing.....Thanks CAT!! )

Don't feel bad, Perry....if you (and the rest of the resident hooligans here) only knew just how close to firing this thing is...you'd ALL be wanting to come down here and kick my butt .....Hell's Bells...I wanna kick my OWN butt.........sighhhhhh....somebody once said that patience is a virtue......I am just about fed up with being so $%##%^% virtuous

Just go do the V-A-R-O-O-M thing for awhile Billy. I have no personal experience mind you, but I here it helps.
