i would guess it'd be like a tire, the further toward the outside you get, the more feet per second you can cover as the radius effectivley increases

Yeah, I just don't know why they would say blower speed and then tip speed, I don't know what the tip is I guess.

And what happens when a blower is overdriven and goes supersonic? Does it's efficiency fall way off and why?

A little background. It's still painfull but I'll try to explain. As a little child we usta' run around the maypole. Had all these long ropes tied to the top of the pole. One day we hooked the Ol' Farmall to the maypole with a flat belt. You know the kind ya' use to run the elevator durin' pickin' time. Well before ya' know it the maypole is pickin' up RPM's. We are all hangin' onto the ropes of dear life. Those who's got the LONG ropes were the first to end up in the weeds as they had the biggest head of steam built up. (hence the maypole effect). Sally and Bonnie where the next to go. I can't go on Ann E. Moore, it just brings back all these visual memories. Sorry. :oops: :oops: :(
