Just a tad off track, but music related.

My new laptop has a DVD player so I decided to watch a movie at lunchtime. I picked out "Four Brothers" with Mark Wahlberg and a number of others. So, last week I'm watching the movie, and the new guy we just hired at the store here comes walking up behind me and says, "Good Movie", I turn around and say ya, it's cool. I'm looking at this guy and thinking that he looks real familiar for some reason. Today I found out what his name is, Scott Wahlberg, Mark's brother. Go figure. He is in a band, but is straying out on his own playing 50's - 60's surf music. He asks me today if he could use a picture of my old 32 Ford for the cover of his CD he is making. Not only that, but he also wants to use the sound of my 60 going down the track for the beginning of one of the song tracks. Cool.

Back when the New Kids On The Block were "The" thing, my daughter, like many other kids, used to go NUTS over them.

I liked the New Kids on the Block. I liked N'Sync. I liked Destiny's Child, the Spice Girls, and I also liked Menudo and Ricky Martin. I liked Wham! and I saw those groups as having cred and impact. It's all good entertainment and they are talented singers and dancers...do the thing with the Wahlberg dude, Mike. He's got a good thing going! It sounds like a very cool project...Cheers, WC1

He let me listen to two of the tracks he's already done. They sounded awesome! I almost started looking for a 40 Ford Woodie with a surf board on the roof.

YEP FH..... the boy bands never clicked with me but they could all sing good and some of the harmonies were well put together and i could tell there was a lot of work and practice involved... just like barbershop stuff.. you just have to apprieciate the work that goes into a perfect blend of notes sung by human voices. you might not tap your feet or feel like gettin' up to dance but the groups mentioned could stand still and sing the National Anthem with not so much as a pitch pipe to get them going and nail it better than all the commercial bignames on any given sunday at the racetracks... IMHO... 8)

I didn't buy any of their stuff, ya know. I appreciated the production and the material as well as the talent of the performers, but like I say...I'm a musician and songwriter myself and it's rock 'n roll, blues, country rock, Pop and a little jazz here and there. Pop stars occupy a special space in the big picture. I can't remember any single style of music I didn't find something in to dig, if only for a few minutes...Cheers, WC1
