The Night Shift... Continues!

Here's where we go to kick back after the races with our pals. Pour a tall one, punch a few buttons on the jukebox, and relax...

Thank you for the kind words. I should say here that I hadn't intended to go into such a manifesto but things happen the way they happen, I just hope I didn't go off too far in one direction or the other. The last 15 or so years, I have shifted the emphasis of my life from the musical performance thing to becoming proficient at computer graphics. This was probably the most challenging of any artistic project that I've ever tackled, and I resolved that the change to digital art would not get the best of me. I'm still learning and working on it every day. This year I've done the best artwork I've ever done in my life and I look at what I did and see that I can improve and get better at it. It makes me want to do it more. The music is fun and thrilling, but I thrive on climbing over tall walls in front of me...computer graphics is where my main focus is nowadays. Enough of this. On to reality!

El Nino has landed, we're swamped in rain. We played in Galveston last night for a wedding and the rain came down in sheets all night. We got through it, it was a fun gig, the crowd was very warm and loving and they had a lot of laughs, told a lot of jokes and they danced and sang with us the whole time...plus the band got paid BIG TIME...triple scale, man...a very generous payday...life is good.

Debby had a freak accident while I was in Galveston. She's OK, thank God, that's all I care about. It was raining, she was walking out the front door of our house to go out to her car in the driveway...when it rains, the ants in our yard move up to higher ground and they built an ant hill in the walkway to our driveway...it had turned into mud over that seal in the concrete...Debby stepped into it without knowing it was there. It threw her off balance, and she somehow was propelled head-first into George, who sits at the end of the walkway in our driveway. Her head hit the driver's side door like a torpedo, her left hand hit the ground and her left shoulder hit the running board below the door. It knocked her silly for a minute or two but she came around and she's OK. No concussion, no broken bones, she was just upset about George's door being dented (it got a big dent in it...pushed it in...looks to me like it can get pushed back out pretty easy, I'll check with Pete about that this week) but all I care about is that she is OK. She could have totalled George and if she came out of it without being hurt, I'd rejoice. It's a glorious day. Cheers, WC1

My best to Debby... Two Excedrin, an ice pack, and a scotch is my prescription. bp

Thanks, Wheelz. Barb is on the phone with Debby right now, what a sweetheart she is for calling...they sound like old chums already! I went outside and took pictures of what happened. The first is the ant hill in the walkway with Debby's footprint in it, the second is George with the dent in the door from Debby's head, and the third is the whole scene. That was a bad, scary accident...I'm just grateful she's OK. Cheers, WC1

Glad she's ok John!!!

I not a bodyman, but it looks like the dent could be pulled out by one of those suction cup pullers? Just trying to help!

Good point, 23t. I will talk to Alex about this tomorrow. He worked in a body shop for a couple of years before getting hired at GRI...Thanks.

And Barb, you made our day...Debby has a new friend now. She'd never had the opportunity to meet and chat with you. It was wonderful of you to think of her. Cheers, WC1

I wish that had never happened to her, but it was pure luck that her head hit the door in a soft spot where there is no bracing or joints and it gave in when she hit it...the bracing in that door runs all around it like an outline...she would not be OK if she had hit one of those braced areas...
