Report Please. yep just got back..... had to check a few things here at the ranch, see if the water was still on, the junk truck got picked up, the renter had his rent monies that i left town without, shopcat is still alive, nothing blew up or burned and change my clothes... oh yea almost forgot.. pour myself the tallest jackNcoke in the biggest beer mug i have !! A great weekend considering getting up there a day late... we were allowed a lap late friday night after every sceduled deal had been run... must have been close to 10:00pm.... it was misty and cool and the INDY dew was forming on everything but the track was good and we made a good no spin lap.. not for data but just to stretch and check the car plus it's pretty darn cool to be on the track at night Bill (racer403) and Derek (Don's son ) were up there a day ahead of us and made 2 great timetrial runs during the day for decent data on Bill's car which can apply to the GG/JTP car..we partied some and hit the moterhome around 1 am saturday as first call to the lanes was going to be 8:00 am if they got the track dried on time. got up at 6 slam some coffee down, towel the dew off the cars, warm them up by driving around the massive pit area add a splash of gas and air the tires and go up for the single time trial availible... car runs within a couple hun as the night before.. ok we have some data and no problems with either car... looking good....let the show begin !! Pretty neat deal standing at the waterboxes at INDY during the prayer and National Anthum being sung !! Bill went to the line before us and went .008 red 
and was done for the weekend...oh well.... jeeez that was close to a 000 green

I guess Don saw it from back in the lanes or he heard it over the pa system and got some butterfies or jitters or just didn't want to red light.. our draw for first round was a big old cadillac with a 19? second dial-in.. Don had to sit there a long time , left with a poor.124 light chased the cadi down and drove good enough at the top end to snatch the win light!! I have never been so happy to see a win light come on !!By tonight half of the cars on the ground will be on the trailer and we are still in this deal !! We celebrate by taking the golfcart loaded with tin1s up to the decorated team Gateway section of the grandstands to cheer for our fellow teamates that 2 weeks ago were enimies in our class and to support all the other Gateway racers in pro,super pro,the bikes etc.. And Aaron Hagen who was competing in the hi-school deal.. (Aaron lost a close race in the semi-finals )Knowing it was gonna be an early Sunday call to the lanes Don and I hit the motoerhome early for rest as Bill did us proud partying with the other first round LOSERS till 3:30 am so he thinks... Inever heard him enter the motorhome as i was sawing some good logs !! Plus i had a bellyfull of team Gateway BBQ burgers and hotdogs, tatorsalad and slaw... that is done up right every saturday during the finals... Sunday morning we were up early.. did the normal checks and procedures etc. I was pumped to say the least after loosing on saturday the last 2 years.. here we are gosh dang it !! It's Sunday and the GG/JTP CAR IS IN THE LANES !! I flagged down Aaron and hired him to be our photo guy as none of us brought not even a sketch pad 
... cool photos by Aaron coming soon via e-mail later in the week...Ok.... we draw a heavy hitter from some track... both cars leave with good lights... i/m watching the top-end with my binocculars............................ looking for the win light to come on in our left lane..... not... lost by .005 margin.... over..done..outa here... like many others on the defending champion Gateway team... we all started dropping like flies in a fog of bugspray..last i heard before we packed up to head home the team was tied for 3rd but would take some heavyduty round wins from the remaining members to have a chance of a Gateway repeat.... well at least we contibuted this year winning 1 round in a pretty tough deal... both rigs made it up and back without a squeak or rattle... a good friend won almost $500 in a buy-in closest to the dial deal and the weather was great all weekend..we drove a couple hour through some brutal wind and heavy rain on the way home which slowed us down getting home but all is good and Life was good this weekend !!
