Hey folks, another new guy here. I stumbled across this site the other day while I was googling something inane and the results popped up the thread in the lost friends section started by Big Erik after the passing of my father, Tom Hetzler. I figured any place that would do that was a place I should join and hang out a little, so here I am. As Erik said, I started racing in Cordova, and Erik was one of those guys that was always good to talk to, plus he had one bad a$$ car, even then. There wasnt a more sinister looking car on the property than that flat black painted 'Vulgar Display of Power" chevy. I started bracket racing in '92 at Cordova driving my 1970 mustang fastback street/strip car, and quite honestly, I was terrible. LOL After a year of that, we swapped the running gear over to dedicated racecar to keep from abusing the mustang to much, and of all things it was a 1976 granada. After a few years, I got better, the car got to where even though it was an ugly SOB up close, it worked well (against all logic and reason), and in 1999 I won the Pro track championship at Eddyville Raceway Park. The following year I purchased my current racecar, a 1969 mustang fastback back halved. I've ran 351 clevelands or some variation of, since I started racing. In 2002 I moved to NC where I still live today. I race when the funds allow, which right now isnt very often.

I'm sure there are some other folks here I know (I see Animal Jim posts here, and I have had the fortune of sitting in his trailer during a rain out one year at the World Series and listen to him tell stories for hours.)

New Guy!

Postby vamcaptain » Sun Aug 02, 2009 7:39 pm

All,

I am Mike from Woodstock, Virginia! I am 45 years old and married with two awesome kids. I have been busy building my family and career for almost 20 years and now it's time for some "me" time. I have recently obtained my class 4 license and I have a Top Dragster owner willing to let me drive for the rest of this season and all of next as soon as I get my class 3.

My introduction to drag racing was through a neighbor whose son was Don Young from Carrollton, Georgia. I went with him to some of my first races. I never forgot the comradeship and competitive atmosphere. I vowed to return...here I am!

God Bless all of you and keep you safe. See you out there!

Mike
