Don't feel bad Billy!! I stuck at 9.60's.

I'll build ya a wheelstanding golf cart! Different thrill and easier on the budget! And you can still be involved in drag racing!!

There's nothing wrong with any time. An ET slip means you're racing!

You're absolutely right again, bandit!!!!

On August 7 the Solid Rock Racing team took part in the Marion County Nostalgia Funny Car Nationals at Marion County International Raceway in LaRue, Ohio.
It was a terrific event with 29 funny cars taking part.
We decided to make a time run early in the day and went up and laid down a pretty good side by side burnout against Sharkey's Machine and did a couple of dry hops and ran a 7.73 pedaling it once. We have been having trouble getting it off the line so we were pretty happy with that number.
For the first round we were up against the always tough Dazed and Confused Camaro of Jerry Streb. Once again, we both did some good smoky burnouts and dry hops and staged up. At the flash of the tree we were off but the Mustang decided to do some bucking and bouncing and went a bit sideways and I had to backpedal it and slowed to an 8.07, while Jerry ran a great 7.25.
For the second round we were paired up against George Reidenauer in his beautiful Excaliber Corvette. We both laid down good smoky burnouts and did some dry hops. I was determined to make a good run this time and was really pumped up. When the tree flashed yellow I laid into it and it started bouncing a bit and shaking but it was going straight so I just feathered the throttle a bit and ran a 7.66.
All of the fans that I talked to said they really enjoyed the event and were looking forward to next year. We are also looking forward to next year.
It was great to see some friends that we only see once a year and to meet some new friends at this event. The regular members of the GLNFCC are always fun to be around and spending some time with all the other great folks made it a special day.
Talking with Willie Johnson is always a treat. It just can't be described, you have to experience it yourself. The Johnson and Johnson Glory Days team are always fun as is the Excaliber team. Getting to meet Goldy was a treat also.
It was fun meeting the Lil Misbehavior Team but i was sorry to hear of their carnage. Hopefully we can see them next year.
I big thanks goes out to Chris and Johnny for working the top end and helping us get around the corner and help with all the other stuff you guys do.
I know I am forgetting some folks but this long post is making my finger sore.
All in all, the Marion County Nostalgia Funny Car Nationals was a terrific event!!!
Thank you Denny Salzwimmer and the great folks at MCIR!!!
