Last Thursday evening we displayed the "Evil Mach I" at the Cops and Rodders car show in Minooka, IL to benefit the Special Olympics.
Later today we will be showing the car at a show at the Knights of Columbus at 1813 E, Cass St., US RT 30, in Joliet, IL. This show is raising funds for Cornerstone Services. If you're in the area come on out and say Hi!

We'll be headed over to Milan, MI. tomorrow PM to run there Saturday afternoon!! I've never been to this track and am looking forward to it.

Rocky, I think you'll like it. (0ne of my home tracks) If you pit up near the lanes you will be on grass under shade trees. Very nice on hot days. Enjoy, be safe, have fun.

JUST A HEADS-UP GUYS. LOCAL WEATHER SAYS, SAT. HI TEMPS LOW TO MID 60'S. BRING COATS OR SWEATSHIRTS.
On the plus side, track should be tight, and motor should be happy.( do I hear a new low ET )

On September 25 the Solid Rock funny car team went to Milan Dragway in Milan, MI. to take part in their Nostalgia Drags event with the Great Lakes Nostalgia Funny Car Circuit.
On our first round we drew Scott Hohensee in his beautiful Visionary Cuda. We both did good burnouts and some dry hops. I was lifting the front wheels on the dry hops so I knew the traction was was there.
On the flash of yellow, we both left hard and I had the front wheels off the ground and when I hit second gear the front wheels touched down and once again were dangling in the air when the car made a move to the left. I backpedaled and got into it again only to have the front wheels again come off the ground and the car made a move to the right. I hit high gear and tried several more times to get after it but had the same results.
I was slated to run Steve Timosyk in the second round in his beautiful Doran Camaro but Steve suffered some extensive damage to his motor in the first round and couldn't make the call.
Denny then told me I was going to run the sharp Shyster injected Corvette with Sue Christophersen[sp] at the controls. I do believe this was the first time for a women to run in competition at a GLNFCC event, so I feel honored to have been in the next lane.
I went over and introduced myself to Sue and made sure she knew about the senior citizen discount that I was to get, count to three after I leave and then leave. I even got Ma Horvath to discuss this with her. It must have worked....sort of.
Both of our motors were cold and Sue's husband, Steve, and I talked a bit and we decided to to go slow with the start up and stage procedure to build some heat. I did have to cut my burnout a bit as the car started to dance and move around a bit much. I took my time backing up as did Sue and I then did a couple of dry hops picking up the front tires each time.
We finally staged the cars and I was really set to make a good run when I saw the big red light in Sue's lane. I think she may have a different idea on what a senior citizen discount should be, but that is OK with me!! I decided to go after her with all I had and left the line once again with the wheels quite a ways off the ground. The car was making a great move when I hit second gear and once again hiked up the front end when all heck broke loose. I'm not sure of the exact sequence of events but the car made a move one way and then the other several times, even after shifting into high gear. I kept trying to get after it and I did catch up to Sue only to have the car make a move towards her lane, and, as I was looking at her car, I decided that discretion was the better part of valor and graciously, or maybe not so graciously, decided to let the Lady cross the finish line first.
I had a great time at this event and hope to go back to Milan again.
It was great running with all of our friends in the Great Lakes Nostalgia Funny Car Circuit and it was very nice meeting and running with Sue and Steve Christophersen and I hope to have the opportunity to do it again in the future.
I will admit that I am less than pleased with the performance of the Evil Mach I, but the crowd sure seemed to like the show it put on. We will be making some changes over the winter in an attempt to calm the car down and get some better numbers out of it.

Great report Rocky. You've had a fun season and have got to play again. Sounds darn good to me.
Winters coming and you've got time to adjust and repair for next year.
I've enjoyed watching your progress and the car has really turned out great
