No really there really is another part of IL besides Chicago.
I am from southern Illinois, And I find it really funny that you mentioned this. It is so true.

And to be quite honest, Chicago should be its own state. Then we wont have to be associated. :P Welcome from another Illinois member.

I'm Tom and I love to talk about drag racing. I have a very heavy and pretty slow GMC 1/2 ton that I drag race and I am trying to lighten it up. It currently weighs about 3900 lbs and runs high 13's. I want to get it down to about 3000 lbs and into the 10's. Any ideas to lighten it up are welcome....I'm on a tight budget since I do want to stay married.

Postby dumboson » Fri Oct 23, 2009 11:03 pm

great to be here my father was Jon Giardina he drove the DUMBO funny car in the late sixties and early seventies he was killed in Elcentro CA at the Holtville carrot festival in 1972. I was moved away from racing and my Mother wouldn't talk about it so I am 45 and searching for information or people who knew my Dad so I can learn about him I am looking forward to being a member here and making drag racing a part of my life

Welcome to the board. We are glad to have you join us. I'm sure some of our West Coast veterans can fill you in on some of your dad's exploits.

Here is some info on your dad and the car (with him and with later owners) from the drag racing lists... (disregard the Plummer entry). bp
