I was just teasing about how old it must be. With the 1800's spelling of Complete. "compleat"

Sorry for the confusion.

you know what in the 25 years I had this book, I never noticed that till now .... John Muir was a hippy from New Mexico who collected VW's his writing style is rather amusing and concise , and the humor is put in at the right spots . and the illustrations are hand drawn and some of them are downright hillarious .

That is some VERY cool vintage VW literature, Stimpy! I remember seeing one of the Compleat Idiot books at Half-Price Books a while back...wonder if they're still out there...great illustration, too...I'll bet the '59 Bug was great, as well as the 60s models you had...they are great cars, Beetles are...I am very glad I got George...I'm having fun driving him. This evening on the way to the gig, I went through heavy traffic all the way there and this guy in a Chevy Blazer was in front of me, then behind me, and him and his girlfriend were digging my Bug...something I found out is that I don't have to have an emissions test given to it when I get it inspected...I thought that was awesome...in Texas, it's $15 (probably more now) to take the test, whether you pass it or not...I will say this, though...when you're driving a Beetle, you are one driving dude...your arms, your legs, your head, your hands, they are all constantly moving with the functions of the car...one thing a Bug won't do is lull you to sleep...speaking of which, I need to catch up on some. Cheers, WC1
