Here's where we go to kick back after the races with our pals. Pour a tall one, punch a few buttons on the jukebox, and relax...

Good news that Sabbath will be coming home, I knew he would. No he will never be the same in many ways but he will always be your loving baby. I worked with cats in spinal cord research. Cats are truly amazing animals. He WILL walk again, trust me on that one. He will have great days and not so great days. But he will get through that bad days with your love and patience. I would keep him as a totally inside cat too (sorry for preaching). I take my 3 legged kitty out and sit with him, and I never leave his side when he is outside. I know the trauma he went through and he is not the same. But he knows how much I love him and how special he is to me. I dread the day I will lose him but I do not want him in pain.

Sorry for being long winded but I am a lady that loves animals.

Thank you for saying that, Bee. Sabbath will be a house cat for the rest of his life. It's going to take a long time for him to heal, but as of today he is starting to heal. He's just so completely helpless right now and it is heartbreaking to see him like this, but I know we love him so much that we will all pull together and take care of him. He's been a loyal and loving pet and we will stick with him through this, when he needs us the most. Again, folks, thank you for the compassion and understanding during our pet's crisis. I guarantee you he's worth all these words. The doctor told me today he'll be there for a while. I could say this has been a week of cursed fortune, but I could also say it's been a week of miracles. As I had mentioned, this is costing a lot of money. Money we really can't be spending on this, but we're doing it. Last night I was looking at the envelope I'd received in the mail from the mortgage company. I thought it was the monthly statement. After a couple of hours, I decided to open it and see how the mortgage is doing and when the payment is due...it was a check for a thousand dollars...they were giving us back the legal fees from when we refinanced the house back in December. I had no idea that was going to happen...It just happened to arrive at a time when our bank account had been purged in order to secure Sabbath at the hospital. We were broke. Debby and I agreed, it was a miracle. Good karma. Get well soon, Sabbath! WC1

Super great Karma John. Power of positive thinking and attracting good things to yourself and family. This is "the Secret."

Some great things are being said here, so I will just go with whole heartedly agreeing with you all and keep sending as much 'good karma' as I can muster, knowing that that great little cat is on the way to recovery and better times ahead. Way to go Sabbath!

You are all such wonderful people. Thank you. I went down to Dickinson today and played a gig with Pee Wee Bowen. Debby took Nick (I mean Chris) to visit Sabbath at the hospital. Nick sat and visited with him for an hour and a half. No visits on Sunday...the doctor told Debby that although they're aggressively rehabilitating Sabby's legs, there is no guarantee that he'll start walking again. She did tell Debby that Sabbath is a miracle cat. They didn't expect him to survive. But I told Debby that once Sabbath is back home, in familiar surroundings and feeling comfortable in his environment, he'll want to move. He'll want to walk. Right now he can't because he has so many broken bones that he can't hardly raise his head without it hurting, so I don't expect him to start jumping up in my lap here at the computer like he always did, for a few months. But I do expect that since he survived this horrible attack, he'll make it to where he can at least get around. We'll see. The doctor is sending him home Tuesday. Life is good. If you good folks don't mind, I will be posting updates on Sabbath as this story unfolds. WC1

Thanks...there might be a setback; they called this morning and talked to Debby and told her they think Sabbath also has a crushed pelvis. If so, it will require surgery and another half-week in ICU. I am no longer concerned about the money involved. Last night, Nick (I mean Chris) came up to me and hugged me. He told me I saved his best friend's life, that I went above and beyond anything he ever expected me to do. That hug was worth ten times what I will pay for this. My wife also has found me to be attractive this weekend. So, let them fix Sabbath. What amazes me about that cat is that he didn't die...he was completely and totally wrecked by that attack and he survived. All I hope is that he will some day be able to get around. I've told everyone here that he will stay indoors for the rest of his life. WC1
