Re: You're watching Drag Racing Underground....

While all Saturday's on-track activities were cancelled due to "oppressive" heat, come Sunday, the weather was still hot, but not as "oppressive" as it was on Saturday, so the event was able to happen... I had a good time... Thanks to DragList's own Jack Redd for taking the time to share some of his "Broadway Freddy" stories with me-- Us folks are plenty thankful 'round these parts that the NOSTALGIA SUMMERNATIONALS, DRAG RACING UNDERGROUND DVDs, and even yours truly are now all "JACK APPROVED"-- It's truly a prestigious honor in the drag racing world, and we are most appreciative to have Jack's official, and extremely sought after seal of approval... Congrats are definitely in order for Walter Frey and the entire E-Town staff for putting so much effort into making the 32nd Annual E-Town NOSTALGIA SUMMERNATIONALS work as well as it did... The "422 All Stars" S/S circuit were a big hit, as were the East Coast Gassers, Funny Cars, and N.E.T.O. car club... It really was a great time for all... I give my take of the event in today's and yesterday's blog-- I put a link to it below... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...

Today's Blog... E-TOWN NOSTALGIA SUMMERNATIONALS A SUCCESS DESPITE THE HEAT... YOU ALL PROVED THAT IT TRULY REMAINS THE PREMIER NOSTALGIA DRAG RACING HAPPENING OF THE EAST...

That's an accurate assessment, Bill, the event went as well as it could, given the extreme smoldering and smelting heat that was besieging much of the northeast... To be honest, I was amazed, I mean, truly amazed, by the number of people who showed up-- Sittin' in the sun, in the aluminum grandstands, on a day when it felt like 105+ degrees in the shade of my Drag Racing Underground pit tent, well, nobody can say that nostalgia drag racing fans aren't hardcore!!... This was the fist event I've seen at E-Town where there was actually a tent up on the starting line to provide the crew with some shade, it was a steamy scorcher for sure... That said, all the drivers and team members still remained happy, calm and collective throughout the day... Are we all crazy for goin' to the drags and surrounding ourselves with nothing but heated blacktop on such a blistering hot day?!?--- I guess not, I guess we're all just in love-- In love with nostalgia drag racing... Thanks "JA Diane the Doc" for giving me some ink and it was great seeing and talking with you
again at E-Town. Hot day, hot racing and some hot music. I met the band(s) when I was
leaving and "JAck Approved" them too. Great bunch of guys.
One other thing that I would like to mention was Raceway Park's salute to the Veterans,
with their support and having the Veterans from the N.J. Veterans Memorial Home (Memlo Park)
in Edison, N.J. there as guests.
Thank you "JA Walt" Frey and the E-Town crew and my son John (celebrating his
birthday) for a great day for me.
Looking forward to next year show and now enjoying the "JA Diane the Doc Hot Blogs"!
Oh yes, stopped at ole Cantore's - now the "Race Zone" and re-JAck Approved them too!
Jack Approved!

Jack, you're welcome... I was glad to give you some ink on my "Doc's Blog" page over at the Drag Racing Underground web site... And it was nice to see you at E-Town's NOSTALGIA SUMMERNATIONALS and having the opportunity to spend some time to talk with you... Yeah, it was "HOT" for sure, if the weather would've cooperated better, that would have been nice, but like they say, the weather is the one thing that nobody can guarantee-- Just a year or two ago, when the weather report was a favorable and far more comfortable one, the track was absolutely packed... Thanks for giving the bands who played your much sought after "JAck Approved" honors, they sure deserved it for performing so well in the heat 'n' humidity... Raceway Park is always good to veterans, for as long as I can remember, the track's management has always made special concessions for those who've served and their families... Event organizer "JA Walter" Frey is one of the most dedicated guys in this sport that I know-- He works so hard to make it all happen-- He's been part of the E-Town staff for about ten years now, and he really gives 100% to all his various responsibilities-- He loves drag racing-- I knew Walter many moons ago when he was a manager at the now defunct Long Island (West Hampton) Dragway, man, oh man, he really paid some dues back then, puttin' up with all the politics and drama at that place-- I really admire Walter Frey, and am glad that he eventually landed at Raceway Park... Glad to hear that you made it to "The Race Zone" bar & grill (formerly Cantore's, and then formerly Vitalie's), located on Englishtown Road, just a bit down the street from Raceway Park... I'm sure they appreciate their brand new "JAck Approved" status... And lastly, Happy belated Birthday wishes to your son, John, I believe spending the day at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park with his Dad was an excellent way to spend his B-Day... First of all, I want to take this opportunity to wish all the racers and spectators at this weekend's DragList Nationals a good time and a great race-- Have fun!!... For those of you 'round this neck of the woods, tomorrow is E-Town's "GRUDGEFEST", yeah, you guessed it, lots of grudge racing-- The "NO TIME STREET RACERS" will be in the house-- AND E-Town's exciting new "BIG TIRE OUTLAWS" will be fighting tooth 'n' nail down the historic quartermile... Yesterday when I posted about this event on my blog, it resulted in folks emailing me, asking just what the h*ck is a "NO TIME STREET RACER"?-- With today's blog, I try to address that question and make clarity of this somewhat "underground" sector of the drag racing world... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...

Today's blog... WHAT THE HECK IS A "NO TIME STREET RACER"?!?... FIND OUT TOMORROW JULY 31ST AT E-TOWN'S "GRUDGEFEST"!!...

Bill, congrats to all involved on the DragList Nationals!!... In today's blog, I lean a little towards discussing the current political climate, you know, debt ceilings, spending caps, and how these days I'm more inclined than ever before to just try to live my own life, go to the drags, make the new BIG STICK record and just take it all one day at a time... I realize that some folks will read and completely agree, while others will read and vehemently disagree, thankfully, that's our right and liberty here in America... Thanks to all who read the blog, I genuinely appreciate your support... You folks are the best friends a gal could ask for... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...

Thanks, Diana. I am constantly amazed at your ability to write so much in such a short time. It takes me forever to get started and I could never write that much daily. bp
