Thanks Rock, I'm going to get some guys together and get the body off tomorrow, gonna start on the chassis soon, I'll check on some dimensions and let you know. It's so darn hard to see in there with the body on.
If you think it's exciting now, wait till we start it.

Lippy, is that bar there by builders design or is it a required SFI bar (or both)?

Guys, I don't know why I waited so long, but I put the Corvette up on the drag lists. It will go rolling by on Reader's Rides one of these days. Please go up and fix anything that's not right. (Home town, engine type, etc.) Thanks. bp

FWIW, You do NOT want to eliminate that bar. Some friends of mine bought an alcohol car that only had one diagonal in that area and when they took it to McKinney for some other work, he told them that when they started making HP they would have serious problems in that area. They did.
I've been told that where that bar meets the shoulder hoop, just below and behind the front roll bar is the most critical point in the chassis. That is where the stress goes. In fact, if there is not a tube inside the shoulder hoop at the point, you will have to install a short bar between the roll bar and the shoulder hoop. The location of this bar is pretty specific. If you are going to be doing any chassis mods, I strongly suggest getting a hold of the SFI spec sheet that the inspectors use.

Thanks again Rock, SFI is my plan, the bar may be replaced by a straight one, but will not be eliminated.
