Every time is a learning run. One deal we use is to always inspect the track. With that done you can discuss with {LM} Mike where you two want the car to be. Tell LM to take charge out there, I trust his instincts to make the right call. If he isn't happy with car placement, let him make the call and move you.

Oh yeah, back to what I was going to say,,,, when you back up behind the line back on up a ways. Not to far to get in to the junk from the water box, but far enough back LM can have you adjust the position of the car if necessary. That way you could have Wheelz avatar back you up and it wouldn't make or break a run. JMO

You could also just have LM be the guy who stays behind the car directing whomever is in the front.

If you are short crew, just back up in the center of the lane. Let LM position the car after you get back to the starting line.

Thanks Rapid. Like you said, every run is learing time. I'm not making an excuse, and you can probably tell by one of the clips, it's very tough for me to see backing up with the car full of tire smoke. I like the idea of him being behind me during this. My biggest problem is I only had one son.

Mike I sure hope you don't mind me posting ideas that come to me when I read your reports. I sure don't mean to overstep any bounds, just trying to help or give some insight to what I have come up against in the past.

You car does put out some hellish smoke!! It looks cool as H***. You could put a strap on the door and pop it open at the end of a burnout. I did that in the Vette all the time to let the smoke out.

Having someone in front of the car is fine, and great as part of the show. Just be sure LM has the final say before giving the car to you for the run.

yep I got yelled at once by Ira Hollensbe as a young thought i was cool punk on the starting line not knowing EXACTLY was my job was.. i was behind the car directing the back up deal...and i put him in the wrong tracks and the run was aborted because of me.. heck i didn't know.. i also made a few other 1TIME mistakes.. but learned my duties.. I agree with Rapid.. no matter where you go LM and mrs.Pro should handle starting line duties.. and hand the camera/video machine off to someone else ? if and when you are short on crew

I understand everything you are saying Rapid, and I love hearing the ideas about what we are doing. We may or may not do what is suggested, but I still read and see if whatever is mentioned can be used or not. LM does everything on this car aside from driving. I am under strict orders not to touch or ask any questions, naturally there are exceptions to this rule. When someone asks me about anything having to do with the mechanicals of the car, I just point to him, he's the boss.

I really like LM, if he chooses to I think he is the guy to go places.

This dry spell is killing me!! We did manage to rent the track for Wednesday, September 13th, so the dry spell will be over soon. Picked up a couple of new pressure regulators, and we should be doing some garage testing today to make sure nothing has rusted.

Is the garage long enough?
