doug , this is going to sound stoopid but you should break the cam in with shell rotella, and a bottle of gm camshaft break in lube, the new oils don't have enough zddp in them and tend to wipe out new flat tappet camshafts, i wasted 3 before i found this out, just tryin to help.
I just read that somewhere.
I also bought a different cam yesterday as that Lunati is too much for this little motor..
Well, I'm off to get it together.
Later..

SHEW.... Man, it's hot out there.
Gotta go get a dang timing chain, thought I had everything... Oh well....

I stopped by Doug Herbert's on the way home yesterday and scored huge...

Tell ya about it later. I did mistakely buy an MSD 6A. For some reason I thought it was a 6AL.
If anyone needs it, let me know, it was 120 buck plus tax. If not, i'll return it next week.

I got a pretty good haul for the new motor though. Moroso oil pan, TCI tranny pan, torque converter, flex plate, some other stuff. I'll post pics later...

Off to the parts store.

Well, I didn't get it all back together.
Rain stinks when your shop is your driveway!! LOL...

However, I did enjoy a nice PB&J picnic with my son on Sunday between the showers.

Taking the family camping at Myrtle Beach this weekend so, hopefully the following weekend i'll get her all back together.

So anyway......
I didn't get it all back together. I am close, the balancer is fighting me, I had to leave it but i am wondering if the key popped out on the way in or something.

Anyway, I did take pics, but they are at home on the camera. I was reall proud of the deals I got at Herbert's.

THEN.... IT HAPPENED.... :(

I thought it was the pan on the tranny that was leaking but.... It appears to be coming from the front pump area.
Translation=Car leaks... Can't race... This dos not make me a happy camper.

On the flip side, the wife sat down with her sad husband as he sheepishly sared at new TCI transmissions in the summt catalog and told me to buy one when the new motor is done....

I think i'll keep her.

I have a nice fresh TCI Competition THM350 that would fit right in there. It even has a brake on it. Let's make a deal.

I think that might be a bit much for my application, don't you?

I guess I could swap the valve body.
What do you have to have for it Mike?

You can PM me if you don't want the world to know.

I think it would be perfect for your car as long as you don't mind a manual reverse shift pattern tranny. I paid over 1500 and it has two passes on it. I'd like to get 1000.

You do understand that this IS really a street car?

If I let you have your way, this car will be needing a cage soon!!
