I think everyone who played a part in the DragList Nationals needs to be commended (racers, fans, track staff, etc)-- I mean, gee whiz, It's the ONLY race of its kind so far this season where people aren't arguing, whining, and complaining in its aftermath! HA!--- THAT''S quite an accomplishment in itself!!-- All that I hear and see are praises and positive words regarding the event-- You must be doing something right!... On a far more solemn note, today's blog pays sincere respect and tribute to a member of the E-Town drag racing family who recently passed away... Mike Conway is remembered in my blog today... Everyone knows that THIS SATURDAY, August 6th is MARION COUNTY'S 4TH NOSTALGIA FUNNY CAR NATIONALS-- Definitely THE PLACE to be for those residing in that particular neck of the woods, and looking for the very best in top-shelf nostalgia drag racin' entertainment (all sorts of incredible nostalgia drag racing machinery are scheduled to appear)... For those of you more 'round my neck of the woods, and more inclined to race with your legs and feet, as opposed to with big gummy racin' slicks, this Saturday, August 6th is Raceway Park's "ROCK SOLID MUD RUN" obstacle race-- A form of racing that requires oodles of hardcore physical and mental endurance... This is an event where lots of folks come out to test just how far they can push themselves on "Military grade" obstacle courses-- I'll be there and so will many others... I discuss this tough and unique form of human-being competition with today's blog... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...

MTV announced that the recent season premier of their popular "JERSEY SHORE" reality TV series broke viewing records with a whopping 8.8 million viewers... Much like when THE SOPRANOS hit big on HBO, lots of folks (especially in the Italian-American doorslammer competition sector of the drag racing community) aren't taking to kindly to the portrayal of their ethnicity-- And while I admit to having some Italian blood running through my own veins, I offer up a somewhat different view and perspective of the matter with today's blog... Wall Street crushes World Street Nationals?!?... Apparently so... The 2011 WORLD STREET NATIONALS that were supposed to be held at the event's home, Orlando Speed World Dragway, has been "postponed" until next year, 2012... Carl Weisinger, the promoter of the radical race claims that the economy is to blame-- Carl fears that with the current financial crunch, the car count would possibly be too thin this year, not giving the fans what they've come to expect at his event... I guess he's hoping that the economy recovers enough to bring the race back for 2012... Lots of outlaw doorslammer racers and fans that I know aren't happy 'bout this recent development at all... Of course this is troubling news, and I discuss it in today's installment of my Drag Racing Underground blog... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...

It seems that there's some readers who aren't buying the story that the "economy" is the complete culprit to the WORLD STREET NATIONALS getting "postponed" until next year... Evidently there are rumors circulating that other reasons have played a role in promoter Carl Weisinger's decision to pull the plug on this year's running of the race... My trusty assistant Stephanie and I delve further into this story to provide my loyal readers with other possibilities as to why the 2011 edition of the event has been scratched off the Orlando schedule...
