While I may have been a No-Show at the DLN's 4, I did get an opportunity to take Peggy to my local track Saturday night (Thanks in LARGE part to my buddy Tim)....I sure do wish I could have enjoyed the cools temps that yoose guys experienced at Eddyville, but I had to deal with mid 90's and nearly 100% humidity  (not crying...sweating!! )

I got a chance to make three hits and it doesn't seem that Peggy has missed a lick...Despite questionnable starting line traction and the fact that I was black-tracking in high gear along with a minor case of the wiggles from side to side of the groove, I managed to run some pretty decent numbers...
Lap 1
5.86 @ 115.88
Lap 2
5.82 @ 117.56
Lap 3
5.84 @ 116.98

"IF" I had been at the track that we First went to, I feel like those numbers would have been mid to high 70's rather than the 80's that I posted....but South Georgia Motorsports Park got rained on pretty heavy Saturday afternoon and they pulled the plug on the Sat Night Test-n-Tune...those above passes were made at U.S. 19 Dragway in Albany, GA.

On the bright side....I was quicker than Danny O'Day's Wheelstander

sheesh....I make one or two (or a dozen) innocent posts and all of a sudden I am innundated with Chebbies wanting to whoop up on Peggy.
So now, I not only have a match race with the Alabama Outlaw, David Goodson, but a fella by the name of Tony Murphy also wants to try his luck against my pony car....and Both of them at the same event!!

I was invited to join the www.classic_gassers.com (Home of the Fast Gassers)message board by Mr Goodson. So I did join up. Not long after I logged in for the first time, I was greeted by Mr Murphy: rather rudely, but all in good fun...now, after some good natured bantering back and forth, both on the board and over the phone, I have a pair of match races at Phoenix City Dragway, on October 18th.

The Outlaw and I are only going to make one pass...out the back door...winner keeps any bragging rights. No Shake down runs...No time trial before hand...just unload, head to the staging lanes and bust em' loose...(I WILL warm the car first, whether he does or not...but he probably will as well) Murphy, on the other hand, is a different story. I am unsure at this point in time as to what the adjenda for our pairing is to be...but I do know what the overall result is going to be...One of us is going to be sporting a brand new buzz cut hairdo, compliments of the electric clippers that swing from his rollcage....I'll keep yoose guys posted on any updates about the itinerary 8)

update... the proposed match between myself and Mr Murphy is to also be an "out the back door" single run deal.

I offered to let him pick the format: On the 5.99 index(which he is best suited for) or out the back door, but he turned around and told me that the choice was mine....Hmmm....Had to think about that one for a second or three....Let's look at the scenario here...5.99 index, heads up, pro tree, break-outs in effect. If he tree'd me (which he is highly capable of doing, going double O on the tree on a regular basis)...there is no way in the world I could get back around him without breaking out. On the other hand, if we go out the back door, I have a much more level playing field for Peggy to take the stripe first. So....I responded to his offer of "My Choice" by accepting the Out the Back Door option. I have heard from a couple of other guys that Mr Murphy has been as quick as a 5.84, and was spraying the fool out of it to run that quick...in fact, he has to spray to run the 5.99 index....at this point, the odds are in my favor.

It's still a while before all this is to take place, but I will keep yoose guys informed of any new developments.

Looking forward to the stories, Billy. I know that the Classic Gasser guys must be thrilled to have Peggy at the 'running' stage after so many years at the 'talking' stage... it was 2002 or 2003, I think, when they started after you to join the group! Glad you are finally in there. bp

lol...When I first registered at their new site, Roger McConnell (a.k.a. Mighty Mouse) thought I had been beamed away to another planet or something...I don't remember his exact words...but it was rather comical.

I just learned a short while ago that yet another Chebbie racer wants a piece of Peggy... I suggested that he also make the trek to Phoenix City and get in line... His car, a 68 Camaro, 521 inch bbc, carbureted on Methanol....to date, his best e.t. has been a 6.28...but that was on race gas and no spray...he now has it drunk AND has it set to spray with the giggle juice....the jury is bumfuzzled on the validity of this threat
