Thanks guys!
Momentary setback on Friday. When they machined the block, the align bored the cam journals. Before they did this they supposedly called around and found cam bearings for .020 over cam journals, and went ahead and bored the block. Guess what? No one makes cam bearings for an oversize cam bore! I was on the phone most of Friday afternoon talking to every Donovan/early Hemi expert (ok - I didn't call Lippy and Leon....) and they all said the same thing "they really didn't do that did they?"
Novotny and I talked Saturday and decided to machine up a set of aluminum bearings for it. Another gremlin thwarted...
On a lighter note - I went racing Saturday! Helped Johnny make a few shakedown runs on the new combo in his FED. He managed a 7.71 on the first full run out of the box with a pretty lazy motor. It was good to get out to the track for a day.

That sounds like a productive and fun weekend.

fun - yes!
productive? If you're talking about non-race car stuff - yes! On Sunday I got the storage barn rearranged so I can put my truck inside, got the lawn mowers out and ready to run, planted some trees....
New crankshaft - $2000
New rods - $1200
New valve springs - $375
Not working on the race car for a day to do things on the honey-do list - priceless.

Stay after it Perry!! BTW, I need a 3/8 stroker crank for a 392. For real, no joking, got one? It's for R.C. Williams twin

Gotta love this early stuff.

And tell Johnny Congrats on the nice shakedown pass!! Cool!
