Oh for those of us who don't have a life and are on vacation , work on the car and read books... any more excitement and I might have a coronary ... the book I am reading goes into depth on 2 strokes of several different styles and after reading I got thinking ( for those of you within 20 miles of my house it was me ,not the refinery you smelt burning )what is the spark lead on nitro? ( in degrees) and nitro will basically self ignite ( like a diesel ) after a point correct? and its still burning when its exiting the cylinders ? this might be a problem as how do you get it into the cylinder thru the air ports without backfiring or igniting??or violating homeland security ???

I know a cox airplane engine is a nitro diesel but would this work the same way ?? I was thinking of a annular discharge ports around the cylinder openings to supply the fuel mix as it scavenges but would it be enough?? .. I started drawing some of it last night I think it might be feasible with some more input . and how many exhaust valves 1? 2? 4? . all ready figured out the lifter/cam system so it doesn't spray oil into the air mixture thru the packing box.. Oh I need to find a woman to spend my money so I don't think anymore...

I think in my former life I was a mad scientist that worked for one of the big three in the early 60's in the engine development dept

.... this is kind of interesting as if it would work well you would get noticed ( how would you not be able to notice the scream of a nitro 2 stroke at speed?? you ears would be bleeding ...

) but Goodyear would be mad as they would have to develop a new tire and randy would have to get a new firesuit for every run ...

Stimpy, if you were a mad scientist in a formerlife, then I must have been your asssistant!!!! I'm still thinking on this two stroke deal, I don't think the ports would present a problem, unless the engine gets hot enough to make the edges of the ports glow. The block would hafta be aluminum. The ports are covered by the piston most of the time, Keep it rich and it would work I bet, but lean it out,......you have a pile of molten aluminum, just like any fuel engine. The sleeves would hafta be good. Long rod two stroke, small bore poss. It would be a slobbering pig, just like a model airplane engine, but what a sound!!!
