I agree with Bob - at least have another set of eyes look at what you're doing - sometimes they'll see something that you don't.

It could be as simple as not enough bearing clearance. I had the last crank repaired by a reputable shop and was lucky that I checked it when it came back - the journal that they repaired was ground to .001 over, rather than .003 under like it should be. Just goes to show that even the good guys mess up now and then.

And to think... I always thought they were supposed to be perfect round...
Here is the #6 rod. The only one that was actually in the pan. The crank is shot, as well as all of the other rods. I already have another block and pops said we're going with a 496 crank this time around. We'll still build up this old block and use it as our "play engine" so that whenever we let someone else drive/license in the dragster, they won't hurt my engine and, as an end result of that, wind up in the hospital. LOL

Yup. The poor rods got stretched when I did my first run Saturday. That was the one I didn't realize the engine didn't shift untill about... passed half-track, I'd say. YIKES!! All I can say is, my lack of experience caused that one. We can buy all the right engine components, but unfortunately, we can't buy my seat time. But I definately learned, I can say that much!

The only rod bolts i use are arp L-19s. Bolts just dont break unless they are overstretched or the big end seized frm lack of lube.

And yes... I utilize the WHOLE WEEK for my birthday. It started last Saturday, and won't end until this Saturday.

Thanks... and... WOW!! That's a great idea! I never even thought about that!! Too bad it's soooo late in the month. I'll have to keep that in mind for next year and designate June as my party month!
