Sometimes I get heat from readers who believe I give way too much "cyber-ink" to my local friends and drag racing heroes... My praise of local doorslammer dominator Pat Musi and Alcohol Funny Car phenom Frank Manzo usually generates this sort of "heat"... No matter what the case, there's no way in h*ck that I can possibly ignore or overlook the fact that at this year's running of NHRA's prestigious U.S. Nationals event, it would be Frank Manzo's winning of his class, that would earn him the title of "Winningest Driver in U.S. Nationals History"... I give Frank Manzo and his trusty team what I believe to be some well-deserved praise with my blog today... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...

When jet dragster driver Darin Bay recently crashed at NHRA's "Big Go" event at Indianapolis, he definitely had much more than his "lucky stars" to thank for his lack of severe injuries and bodily harm... Obviously his digger was built solid and fabricated with the kind of well-engineered parts that kept him safe... In today's blog, I sincerely salute the folks who design, build and fabricate the cars and parts that keep our racers safer than ever before... Yes, we all know that I'm what ya call "brutally honest", and I have openly admitted on several occasions that drag racing does indeed have an element of risk, however, thanks to our "unsung heroes" working behind the scenes, that element of risk is often greatly reduced and kept in check... For all the folks who constantly complain that they yearn to see "REAL" drag racing, well, this weekend, at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park is the 45th Annul NHRA Lucas Oil Sportsman Drag Racing Series, a Division 1 event with nothin' but continuous "REAL" drag racing... Well, it's time to recognize it being the 10th anniversary of the devastating 9/11/01 terrorist attacks, unfortunately, here 'round my neck of the woods, it's turned into an "Uh-Oh, They're Coming To Kill Us Again" event... We're on "high alert" because there's supposedly a "credible" threat of a car or truck loaded with explosives (possibly even a nuke "dirty bomb") heading our way. I discuss this with today's blog... This weekend is the 35th Annual Fall Englishtown Swap Meet & Auto Shows at Raceway Park... This is one event that I thoroughly enjoy... If you're searching for those "hard to find" parts for a build, or looking for just about anything you can possibly imagine, there's a good chance it will be here... I have recent memories of shopping for parts with my friend, and guest Big Stick drummer, Johnny Kelly (Type O Negative, Black Label Society) for his '70 SuperBee... And of course there's the famous car shows that are chock full of interesting and intriguing rides... I discuss this exciting event in today's blog...
