What's on the Jukebox?

Here's where we go to kick back after the races with our pals. Pour a tall one, punch a few buttons on the jukebox, and relax...

I'm stuck on "Hillbilly Deluxe" by Brooks n Dunn.

About to pop in the "Devil's Rejects" soundtrack.
Love Terry Reid, Allman Bros. ((Midnight Rider)), Kitty Wells ((Honkey Tonk Angels)), Otis Rush ((I Can't Quit You Baby)), Elvin Bishop ((Fooled Around and Fell in Love)), Joe Walsh ((Rocky Mount. Way))... All that good stuff. :D

Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young / Wooden Ships. Caught the last few seconds of it on the radio yesterday and had it running around in my head all night. Today I had to dig out the album and have a listen.

Don't you just hate that?! You hear a bit of something, but it just wasn't enough. So them you have to rumage to find it to fulfill it. Usually always worth it though. :D

"Wooden Ships" has held up...it stood the test of time. I never get tired of hearing that song, either from the live at Woodstock set or off the first album...I missed the Starship version (it was Starship?) but the song has ongoing merit and strength. It was done kinda loose, by CSN standards (they were perfectionists) but it has that conversational part and the swirling, jamming backdrop, lysergically mixed in with those precise yet jazz-tinged harmonies...Crosby had a deep influence. He wasn't the big up-front jamming-out rock star of the band, but his contribution to their overall sound has proved to be an invaluable and essential facet of their style. The song is pure art. Poetry in motion. What am I saying??? Cool music all. Life is good. WC1
