It appeared to me that Elvis "slipped one in on 'em"...even some of the bands I've seen recently on that show that really don't have anything new or interesting to offer and turn in mediocre performances couldn't hold a candle to the mountain of crap that Elvis Costello laid down last night...at the beginning of his set, he said "It's nice to be back." Then he unleashed a river of noise that would have made the Plastic Ono Band cringe. There was a certain deliberateness about all of it. He did the whole show that way and it got worse as it moved along until at the end, he laid his guitar down in front of his screeching amps, left it all turned up all the way, howling feedback into the sound system, turned around and did a full spread-open arms bow to the audience, smiling triumphantly. I was thinking this has got to be some kind of joke...a formula, a kind of "Take THAT!" He's not an easy guy to figure out, that's for sure, but I think he lost more fans than he had the opportunity to make with that show...Cheers, WC1

I agree; when on PBS, you have a huge reputation to add to...or let down. When Iggy Pop appeared on Studio## with his solo band, the Trolls, I felt he was really trying to reach out to people who may have only seen his 'peanut butter' footage from 1970.

R.L. Burnside is (was) killer...I heard a couple of his albums whilst running the sound stage for the Seabrook Music Festival in 2001. He had the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion backing him up...it was awesome stuff..."She aks me why...soI jus' went on 'n tol' 'er..." I told Kim, who was playing the CDs, it kinda sounded like Nine-Inch Nails backing up Howlin' Wolf...great stuff!

I didn't know Nervous Norvus did more than "Transfusion"...! Very interesting music today, folks!

My pick for the WC session tonight is "Don't Mess With My Ducktail" by The Legendary Hank C. Burnette. Dude's Swedish but he beats the King at his own game on that one....Cheers, WC1

my 37 year old nieghbor, knowing that i enjoy music handed me a demo copy of the band that he plays drums in...Iwould rather hear a bad wheel bearing in a plumbing van bad i tell ya !! I told him that after the Cards/Cubs game was over i'd play it again ... hoping for a rain delay or extra innings !!
