Hi Dan
Long time SGF racer here.Did not start till 65 so I missed you and the original crew like Allie Swears though I have talked to him about the track.Fat Jack and Carl Becker were running the show when I ran there until my friend Monty Legg took it over till it closed in the 70's.
Listened to WPTR all the time until the sun set then WKBW just blew you off the airwaves here in Glens Falls.Love the AM signals.
Got a lot of pics and we have had a few reunion type get togethers.
PM me if you want to shoot the bull about the track.

Hi ,
Slick Vic's Mom Here,
For anyone who might be interested . Vic is on his way to Bowling Green Ky. He should pull in sometime tonight
after 9:00pm their time, with his funny car. June 18-20
If you get the opportunity to see this car, do it. Great Car, it is a "1972 Vega", One of 4 Vega's Ken Veney had built.
This car goes back to the early "70's " when Ken Veney was breaking track records all over the west coast with it.
Vic has spent the last 3 years restoring this car and had the chance to show it off. And to say thanks to all of you
who have supported him . To check his schedule go to
http://www.vicmillerracing.com Next stop will be Cordova,Ill.
June 26-27 then 2 stops in Ohio. Then to Eddyville,Ia. July 16-17 .He will return to S.I.R. in Seattle,Wa last.
This car is a joy to watch go down the track.
Wish I were there also. Good Luck Vic, have fun.
Love Mom

Cordova is a cool track. Sorta' like going back in time, but at the same time is well maintained.

I was doing a search for a old Army buddy, that was a car nut also, and came across this forum.
I have been into Drag Racing since the late 50s. Did several classes in the early NHRA day, then got into bikes, and did the HDRA thing. Got back into cars in the 90s, after a very bad wreck on a Drag Bike. I only make it to the strip about once a month now, but enjoy it as much as ever.
The guy I was looking for, is Jim Pace. He was a big Mopar man. We were stationed together in Kassel Germany. I know there are a few Jim Pace's in Drag Racing, and if any of you know either, please ask them if the were in the Army in Germany in the 60s.
The car I drive now is not a Drag only car, but a multi purpose car, for the strip and cruising. It is a 93 Thunderbird with a 393 stroker, and a Vortech YSi SC.
I live in Clarksville Tn, and run at the Clarksville Strip, and Union Hill in Nashville.
