We had to make that call with a couple cats when the kids were small. They each had a cat and they were litter mates. Once one died the other one gave up soon after. It was tougher for me to see the kids go thorough the loss than it was to loose the cats. I guess that comes from growing up on a farm.
Sorry to here Sabbath hasn't improved WC.

WOW! I haven't been in this part of the forum as well, which is a surprise as I am a total animal lover. WC1... I'm completely sorry to hear about Sabbath! He seems like a fighter though!! I hope he fights his way through this! Good luck with everything! I wish I had more time to write a more heartful message, but I must get back to work!! Keep your head high!

Thanks, Heather and ProZ. I visited him today at lunch and he talked to me...he's getting weak and he's kind of grumpy, he has a lot of discomfort. I suppose he's having a Jones from being weaned from the morphine gradually. I was told by the doctor that he will have surgery tomorrow (the 3rd one) to remove more tissue from his biggest wound. Now we're looking at Saturday again, if he makes improvement after this surgery. The doctor told me that Debby made the decision and told them to go ahead with it, but I hadn't heard about it until then. There must be a reason for this, but right now I can't figure out what it is. I'm with everybody else on it, so I'll go along for the ride. It won't be me that "pulls the plug"...It is true, however, that we are spending our retirement funds on trying to change infinite destiny. I've told Debby precisely those words and she agreed. I won't say how much this is costing because it is an obscenity and it's our future that is being sold off at pennies on the dollar. I'm frustrated, I suppose that is showing. I am keeping the receipts so that I can give them to Sabbath when he tries to cash in on life #10...hang in there, Kitty...don't quit on us now. WC1

Sabbath comes home today. To say he hasn't healed yet would be an understatement, but time has run out (a long time ago) for him to stay at the animal hospital any longer. The doctor called Debby this morning and told her the good news is he can come home (there will be a list of things that must be done for him and we will all have to participate) and the bad news is that they love him now and they're going to miss him. We'll just do our best and let it turn out according to nature's plan for him. Welcome home, Sabby! WC1

We went to get him, they took him in the back to take out the IVs, catheters, feeding and drainage tubes, etc., and they discovered that his incision (8" long straight up his belly) had come apart inside him. More surgery will be done tomorrow in the emergency room; it's beyond my comprehension... There isn't any way we can pay for this now. He wasn't ready to come home, anyway. He can't move. He still has steel clamps holding his abdomen together and it won't heal. I have to go, I have a gig at 7 in Galveston...I'm just completely in another world right now...this whole thing is (fill in your words here) WC1

When I didn't heal they wanted me to go through hyperbaric (oxygen) treatments. I could't pay for that medical care either so I had to have a more drastic surgery because I wouldn't heal. Insurance didn't cover the cost of all the treatments I would have needed.
John, sometimes when it gets the worst, the sun will start creeping through all the dark cracks. One day at a time honey.
