Good to see a new member here, Bob....It'll be neat to see what you have going at your track...I prolly won't be attending any of the events due to the mileage between us...but still be interesting to see what I'm mising

Hi,
My name is Sonny and I live just outside of philly. I have been a fan of drag racing (not a racer) since the mid 60's. Hatfield, PA, speedway/drag strip was the hot spot then. Got to see a lot of rising stars.
My job involved a lot of traveling. When the rest of the guys would run out to dinner on Wednesday nights or visit area attractions on lay over weekends...I would grab a rental car and find the local drag strip.
It may have been a just a normal weekend, or a national event or if I was really lucky, a great nitro match racing night! Boy I do miss the match races or booked in nitro events. Anyway, what do I know, liability insurance, lawyers, change things. I'm told that is progress.
Glad that stumbled across this site.
Wish all a happy and safe holiday season, Sonny

Greetings old friends I hope,,I was a young teen back in the late 60's ,learning dragracing from a local guy and his buddy ,Help me if any of you have pics or even remember ,I lost all pics and movies in a house fire the my mother had ,,
I was learning from a guy named Jerry "Butch" grabow and Doug "cookie" Cooke,, I was going thru the qualifying and license process at a track Called Wattsburg in NW pa. after that we made trips to Detroit to a 4 lane track ,Gratiot and eight mile if whats left of my mind is right. the car Grabow had was a 62 chevy with a injected big block ,black with red trim..I went into military service and up thru 2006 was in active or air guard service in texas( my home since 72).
I have Found a 71 mustang Funny car in a barn , Blue with white inserts on side and hood,,trying to get idea who may have campaigned it back when it was new.. any ideas and input I will Thank You for body is still in good shape ,,chassis was pulled out and put under a duster he had years ago,,shoot me a message if you can help and Thank You for reviveing me from giving up on real race cars,,I earned a nickname back then that Jerry put on the car "" Don the Shotgun" Hancock, He said it was cause I launched the car like a shotgun going off... Keep the nitro flowing and thank you all..
