Ya got that right, Wheelz...right now Ludwig's riding on a Dunlop, a Bridgestone and 2 El Dorados...Got 'em for $150 at Joe Tire back in September...I used to run Goodyear Eagles exclusively but times ain't what they used to be...almost...anyway, Brian's installing the new OSX on my Mac. Got a new Ram card coming in a couple of days. He's putting in a DVD burner for me and migrating all my old files to this new 300GB hard drive! Will miracles never cease? I asked him about getting ProTools MBox2 Pro version and he said he can do that. The "package" you get from the leading dealer either online or in-store has stuff I can get much cheaper and some stuff I don't need (mic stands, cords, etc...) so I figure if I can get Brian to get the MBox2 Pro Factory version and the software, we'll be good to go and coming in a good $500 below what I'd be paying retail. I have studio experience and having a home studio is something I've missed very much for a long time. I've thought about naming the studio but I haven't settled on a name yet. It's strange that when I posted some photo restoration in my Super Crew thread, that Maritime said what was there was a miracle...I had decided to name my "graphics company" Miracle Graphics...this was 20 years ago...my boss called some stuff I did "Minor Miracles"...I never got my own company but I think I might file a DBA. I thought about calling the studio WSRJ studio in honor of the Citykings. I sent Bill Gibson an email today and told him that he has free reign in my studio once it's ready. He has a lot of loose material right now that he could do here...well, I gotta run, the installation is almost complete. Life is good. Cheers, WC1

I might be able to retrieve the original disks from the Citykings' never-finished or released FIRST album, which we recorded in 2001 at Broadway Studios in South Houston. I'd finish it. It was good, behind the politics over there. I didn't particularly get along very well with the engineer, not that it was too much of a problem, but he kept picking on me constantly and he ultimately killed my spirit for the project by the time I'd put most of my tracks in it (and paid for it). It would be nice to get all that stuff over here and have a spin with it...Cat

@ wheelz ^^ Been following along WC on this thread and man it is all GOOD TO GO !!! just dropping in to ask a tech question... JTP wanted me to research a problem so i will start with you.. He picked up a Marshall DSL401 AMP on a trade deal... plays great he says but shuts down after a few minutes.. Idid a quick search and found some complaints regarding overheat problems on some early models... thought i'd run it by you first before really getting into research.... thanks, JS

Thanks, Doc! If JTP can get himself one of those little fans they make, like one that he could clamp onto the back panel of the amp, point it in at the tubes and let it run while he plays, blowing air through the amp, it'll stay cool enough to keep going. If it heats up and the heat doesn't have anywhere to go, it will shut itself down once the internal temperature reaches intolerance. Almost sounds like it needs a laxative or something, but if JTP can get a small fan to blow air through that amp, it'll keep running and not black out on him...those big tubes put out heat...needs ventillation. Simple but effective. Like the tubes are still going to get as hot as they do when a guy plays 'em, but the circuitry needs air moving around it to move the heat out so it doesn't affect everything else that's going on in there...I've done it with a PA system that got hot and would shut down but we put one of those cheesy little clamp-fans on it and voila...Cheers, WC1

yep.. a fan deal is what i have told him so far..... read a little about it and seems they knew about the problem and the later amps had a fix.. a heat sink/rectifier upgrade ? JTP is not a on-line type of guy so i'm just trying to help.... it it was me the fan deal sounds like the answer.... sittin' under one as i type thanks John !!

I didn't think about a heat-sink deal but that'd be even better...he could probably order one but he'd need to go to Guitar Center or Musician's Friend (which is Guitar Center online) and get that doo-hickey. But a cheap fix would be to get a small fan on it...

News Flash:

Johnny B and the Wildcats just got asked to reunite and play a benefit at the Cock-Eyed Seagull July 22. We'll be doing our Roadhouse Boogie set. I get to bring out my new axe and give it a spin with my blues buddies. Life is good!

The benefit is for Mark Fenton, bartender and manager of the club. He is a great guy. We all owe him. He's done so much for all of us and never asked for anything in return. He's having some health problems. I told Shorttsy I'd be delighted to get Rodger to dust off the Cat drumhead and play our old favorites...haven't played those songs in quite a while...man I'm looking forward to this.

That would be ideal, Wheelz...I was thinking kinda like that...mount one either in the back protective piece by making a round hole for it to go in and wire it into the power supply...or mount it inside, free-standing...the amp runs on basically the same principle that the computer does in regards to building heat, keeping it cool with a fan, etc...it would need to blow air through it that would circulate, if possible...good thought! PS: I saw a deal at Wal-Mart, they have 2 small fans, that fit in the palm of your hand (each one, that is)...depending on how durable they are, they would probably be ideal, but you can buy a fan at Computer City or something, too, that'll fit in there...
