What's on the Jukebox?

Here's where we go to kick back after the races with our pals. Pour a tall one, punch a few buttons on the jukebox, and relax...

8) 8) I love Tick Tock. Crank it up till things are falling off of the shelves and float with the music. SRV 8) Eric Clapton talked of him one time as he heard of this new guitar player then went to see him play. He said that "We all get lost sometimes and can bury it to return to normal but this guy never got lost. He scared the hell out of me". Is that a great tribute to SRV's talent or what?

Great picture, Pete! I can't believe they left SRV out of the Top 50...let alone the Top 10! Heck, I'd have him in the Top 5. Maybe I oughta make a list. Go, SRV! His influence is monumental here in Texas. There were and are a lot of great guitar players around here, but Stevie Ray Vaughan was by far the best of all of them...for creativity and flash, I'd give the nod to Billy Gibbons. Technical precision, Eric Johnson. Bugs Henderson is incredible but has been plagued with inconsistency. Derek O'Brien in Austin was a co-player with SRV in the Cobras and is very similar in style and sound to him. Johnny Winter isn't doing well these days, but he was one of the all-time greats in his prime. Jimmie Vaughan is a great bandleader and a minimalistic genius. In and around Houston, we have Mark May, Matt Johnson and Lynn Raggio as the best guitarslingers around. But Stevie Ray Vaughan covered all those guys' action and went 'em one more. He was in a class by himself. Sure do miss those awesome guitar licks. Cheers, WC1

Thanks for influencing my music schedule for today you guys - It just took me over an hour to find all of my Stevie Ray Vaughn tapes. I would agree with WC1 that he's one of the top 5 all time great guitar players.

Neil Young, ZZ top, and two Pink Floyd tapes in the console of the VW for today's salvage yard mission. Need a headlight bezel for the VW and I'm still looking for a straighter back bumper for the Hornet.
