Howdy, Doc. Got through it pretty well. Randolph is an excellent field general...he just hasn't ever had a project like this one come up...he said it's like having to do HIS shop...he's the Citizen Kane of the Southeast Side...so he starts up. Arturo, do this. Joaquin, do that. John, take this over there. Jose, take that over here. We went full-throttle all day. Now you can walk around in there and there are piles of stuff outside...good wood, bad wood, good metal, bad metal, and 2 lean-tos that got made to hold stuff until she decides that the plaster lions and the boxes full of pine cones and broken glass, tiles, nails, screws, electrical stuff, and so on from A to Z, are well past usable and can be disposed of. We still have more stuff to do there, like hang the sheetrock, but she came out this afternoon when we got the place good enough to work in and she and Bob started arguing about the lighting she's going to have. 45 minutes later, we left with them still arguing over whether 6 or 8 fluorescent light fixtures would be right, and they can't decide whether we should cut the openings for them or go ahead and get them and install them with the sheetrock. This is the part of it we didn't expect, but we can stand there while they argue. Here is what it looked like this morning when I got there...Cheers, WC1

Yeah, it was OK...but that's just one side of one room...the whole house is like that...and the yards...and the shed...and all around the sides of it...but the day went quickly and efficiently. She came out 4 times and asked us not to throw out the shattered mirrors and redwood 2X4s that were rotten...they're REDWOOD! Well, yeah, but you squeeze 'em and they turn into powder...anyway, it's fun. We are having a laugh or two while we sort out the mess...Life is good. WC1

600 Bones a day for this gig. But I get my usual salary...so do the guys who work for Rand...Rand needs the dough, we all do, so I can't complain too much about how totally out of control that place is...to me, it's beautiful. We could do the whole place if she wants, but the deal is clear out the junk inside that room and do the sheetrock. Rand's trailer is full and there's a couple more loads to go, but we haven't sorted out the yard, much less all of that room yet...I can see us running through Thursday, maybe Friday, but Randolph's deal is catch-as-catch-can. I'm telling him to advertize but he backs down from that. He says it gets too heavy when that happens...we get off at 4 every day, and there are no rush deadlines, no crises...just do the work and don't worry. I love this job. The Mexicans laugh at me and poke fun at me because I'm slower than they are and I'm learning the procedures, but what they don't know is that I'm older than their daddies are and I've already had a career that had nothing to do with this stuff. Randolph threw me a lifesaver and I'm there working as a laborer. I'm learning how to deal with those guys. They have attitudes but I don't. I'm doing fine with it...Cheers, WC1
