After a long winter of bench racing sessions and seeing as neither one of us is getting any younger Team Cape Breton has made a drastic change to our plans for 2008. Gone is the old mid nine second "Ancient Rat" 1969 Camaro(below) - sold turnkey with trailer to another local racer.

Yesterday Len's new toy(pics below) arrived from it's former home in New Brunswick. A one time Top Alcohol Dragster(Johnson chassis) built in California in 2004. We've decided it will get a large blown alcohol BBC for power which brings us to the subject of this message. We need help!! Does anyone out there have any sort of reading material for first time blown alcohol users? We realize the learning curve will be steep compared to the old Camaro but we're ready for a new challenge. Since I'm the one with the most spare time I've been designated as the official researcher on the care and feeding of Blown Alcohol Dragsters.
My point is any information any of you might have that would help us newbies make as few mistakes as possible would be greatly appreciated. We know it's a big leap from a 9 second S/Pro but we're eager to learn. So far our biggest problem is that it won't fit in Len's garage(too long). Next problem will be to find a trailer that it will fit in - It was too long and the wing too high for the Camaro's trailer so it got sold too.

That is an absolutely gorgeous dragster, Maritime! And yes, you guys took a giant leap over what you were running...my first thought on the building, maintenance, care and feeding of an alcohol-burning engine is for Bob Kraemer to offer some tips...he built a hemi, but there are probably some similarities involved...congratulations on getting the rail! It looks great! Good luck with it in the upcoming season! Cheers, WC1

Great looking car! Nice going. 8)

Spend time reading all the posts on Will Hanna's Inside Top Alcohol site. I would also join the Harvey Racing Engines board. It would be well worth your time in my opinion.

Thanks Randy - much appreciated. This is all gonna be a steep learning curve for an old Stock class racer. I told Len we were in over our heads but he sez mine can hold more information than his LOL.

Got a couple measurements on that thing - Wheelbase is 274" and the wing is 7 feet high. With the wheelie bars the bloody thing is about 34 freaking feet long!! Now we're on the hunt for a long enough trailer to put it in preferably with a door high enough so the wing will clear. We have to put an extension on Len's garage too so this transition from a door car is not as easy as it seems.

That is a looong rail, man...not quite Top Fuel or A/FD, but definitely T/AD size...is the wing assembly removable, or is it like a major hassle to take off and put back on? If it was reasonably efficient to take it off and put it on come race day, know what I'm saying? Cheers, WC1
