I have recently acquired this 65 Chevelle A/FX Altered Wheelbase
car as a roller and am looking for information on who built it and where
it might have been raced. The previous owner said the car had come
out of the Michigan area in the late 70's or early 80's and has been in
storage down south for the last 25 years or so.
The quarters, roof and cowl are steel, while the doors, decklid and
the front end are fiberglass mounted on original type hinges and only
the hood pins on. The chassis is 3" round tube with a pontiac / olds
diff with old style lift bars with coils & tube shocks, front suspension is
a straight axle on parrallel leafs & tube shocks. This is a center steer
car with the driver sitting about at the back edge of the doors.

That looks one heck of a lot like Bobby Wood's Chevelle. I'll see if I can dig up a photo of that car for comparison. PS. Welcome to the board. bp

The car that has the most similar features I have found so far in
photos is the "Tiger II" car driven by Jimmy Adcock out of Texas. it has
the correct 64 nose, is a post car, injectors cut into the cowl and in the
later version has been converted to a center steer car.
Was trying to get a hold of Tommy McNeely who was posted in
one of the early Desperately Seeking Columns but both the email listed
and the phone number is no longer in service.
Does any one out there know how to get a hold of Jimmy Adcock,
I was told that this car was featured in a magazine article, but not yet
ever found out the publication it was in or which issue. John
