Nitro Funny Car driver Vinny Arcadi passes

Vinny Arcadi, who finished fourth in the 2006 Torco Racing Fuels Pro Nitro Funny Car championship points standings, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 3 following a brief battle with cancer. The Lancaster, New York resident entered a hospice facility late last week and passed away early Wednesday morning.

Arcadi was born April 29, 1956. He was 50 years old.

“Vinny was an excellent racer and an even better person,” IHRA president Aaron Polburn said. “He was the quintessential competitor and a great sportsman. This is a sad day for everyone in the IHRA family.”

Funeral arrangements and other information will be made available on IHRA.com as soon as details are finalized.

Wow, this is WAY too young. Sorry to hear this. He was a good competitor that we've spoken with several times over the past few years... RIP.

This was very sad news to hear about Vinny.
I actually sat down at a dinner table with vinny about
7 years ago in pomona and talked fuel cars.
my condolenses go out to his family.

That's great that you got to meet and talk with Vinny, Vic. From all accounts, he was a fine gentleman and an all-out drag racer. We'll miss Vinny to say the least. There weren't that many guys like him to begin with. Rest in peace down here, race on in Heaven with an unlimited budget, Vinny. WC1
