looking for info on 69 camaro that was run at M.A.R sometime

Postby dragracinrs » Mon Feb 05, 2007 11:28 pm

I recently bought a back halved 69 Camaro that had 4 M.A.R. kill stickers on the drivers side lexan quarter window. The car was orig white with a black vynal roof and a blue int. Then painted blue with some sort of stripes that resemble ralley stripes(going to sand down eventually). It has a narrowed old school olds rear and a 2 piece front end. Car still has stock dash and was an a/c car orig. Trunk lid guts were cut out(to lighten i guess) I have a bunch of pics of the car and soon as i learn the site I will post them. It seems to have ben a race car for a long time with 27 or 28k on the odometer and orig rivited ball joints in the controll arms. I love the car and am going to make a prostreet ride out of it keeping it ready to rip with the line lock and 2 speed glide with a brake in it. If the orig "racin" paint looked cool i may put it back on the car Kinda tribute to its glory days.
I have attempted to contact Peggy Jones and got no response as I'm sure she may be affraid of what i want.(can't blame her) All i was after was some history and maybe a photo or two, possibly where larry got the car.
Any info will be greatly appreciated and will aid in restoring of the car.

MY E-mail is dragracinrs@aol.com if you have anything for me.

Thanks in advance
Brian

Seems as though the car was run at cordova and not all that long ago.
It was blue with silver stripes and owned by a couple of truck drivers in the same neck of the woods before Larry got it. I'm still looking for pics and any history from before larry had the car so if any one remembers this car from Cordova Drop me a line and maybe we can figure out who built it.

Thanks
Brian :D

Brian i have looked through some local photo albums and checked gateways race results but haven't come across anything yet.... some of the M.A.R. (NOW CLOSED) racers have been competing at gateway over the last couple years.... i will ask around as soon as i can...

Well guys seems as though the brothers were named Bradshaw and were from Bellville IL. I have gathered that they got the car from a George Egan who had built 3 cars and mine was the only tubbed one of the 3. Now the question is does any one remember George Egan and his kwik-way speed engeneering shop?It is rumored that he had worked with Dick Harrell back in the day. I am hoping to find a pic of Georges cars so that me and the other owner of of the two found cars can have some referance to the cars when they were first built.

As always any help is greatly appreciated.
Brian

Brian i remember the name George Egan and the kwik-way shop.. was in the shop once many years ago with a buddy who may have worked there at one time.. i will check my local phone book to see if the place is still in business. if you haven't allready i suggest you try to contact Jerry Bickel at JBRC with the info you have gathered so far as there may be a connection

I sent a mess. to Jerry but i am sure he is way to busy to reply. I have ben tracing the stripes with a crayon and from what i can make out i believe the car to say"the I Monster"????? Got me but maybe it will spark someone to remember somthing. Seems it was dark blue, light blue with some white and maybe other colors as well. I sure would like to see it then. I would really consider recreating it if it lookd cool and had some history in the racing comunity. If any one can help please let me know.

thanks
