I have not measured the lengths on the rods yet, but
i am being told the difference between the brooks 60 & 65
is the length. anybody now whats going on here.
This is a good question,..with out having to call brooks.
I have a blown BBC 482 it has Brooks rods,..
6 of them rod #`s 2,3,4,6,7,8, are brooks 60`s
and 2 of them rod #`s 1,& 5 ,are brooks 65`s
are you saying i have different rod lengths in this motor ????

Hmmmmmm wonder if i am set up for nitro,..
i did not notice domes out or in the whole when i tore this
down,..looks like i will take notes after clean up
and take measurements of comp hights.

Vic, Obviously I can't say for sure, but it is possible that some of the rods have offset bushings in them to make them the same length.
I would strongly suggest that you get a new set of rods, as you have no idea how many runs are on the ones you have. I know I wouldn't even consider using them.

Do you have any pics of the piston domes?

Does Brooks have a web site that may have the rods and explain the differnt numbers and what they mean?

If I had to guess, I'd say those pistons are around 11 or 12 to 1 compression.
I had 10 to 1's in my 468 and, judging by the pics, the domes were smaller than what you have.

I'm curious about the numbers on the rods. Are the numbers stamped on them or are they part of the forging?

They are part of the forging,...
the 65`s say BROOKS 65

THE 60`S SAY BRC 60

i'm with rock, no possible way i'd use those rods, i watched a buddy of mine window his block last year because his rods had 1 too many runs on them, ebay those suckers and buy some new ones.

It depends on what you want to do in the end Vic, if the piston and this compression fit your plans, mic the skirts, check the pin bosses, and inspect for cracks on the bottom side and run the pistons.

I agree with tossing the rods unless you see a reciept dated and the guy can verify the number of runs. If they are less than 20-runs and the lengths check out and the ends dial bore ok, I might use them. If more than that, they are junk anyway.
