A mom with a great set of ears, she heard something special in the jams that Bob Bogle and her son, Don Wilson, were developing when not at their construction jobs. She arranged to get it all on acetate, marched into Pat O'Day's studio at the mighty KJR AM in Seattle- and convinced O'Day to play one prime example of their work as a news brief lead-in. The instumental in question, "Walk, Don't Run", launched The Ventures into their career as the world's biggest instrumental group..and saved our government millions of dollars over the years in unneeded diplomatic energies extended towards their fans in Japan.

I've been absent from this section and just saw your post, coffee...great words about a pioneering lady in the music biz...RIP Josie...I saw the Ventures live at Rockefeller's here in 1980, the original guys with Nokie Edwards and the original drummer, he has since passed away but he was rock-solid that night...I can't remember his name, but I bought a t-shirt! They did their hits plus an outstanding version of "Classical Gas" that rivalled Jose Feliciano's live rendering of the Mason Williams classic. They also did a great "Let's Go!". Bob Bogle did a vocal, too...If not for Josie, who knows...WC1
