My Great Uncle was Doug "Cookie" Cook, of the "Stone Woods & Cook" machine, a LONG time ago. Without him, I would not be where I am today. My dad had a rough time growing up, and would spend much of his time, when not in school, down at the shop, watching and helping his Uncle "Douggie" wrench on the car to get ready for the races. Without Doug Cook, my dad would not have gained the knownledge, nor interest, in drag racing and probably would have never gave drag racing a second guess. I am very thankful for this. And God Speed Uncle Douggie.
**In Loving Memory of Doug "Cookie" Cook. King of the Gassers.**

Thanks, Heather. Welcome to the board. Of course, as drag racing historians, racers, and fans, we have a great admiration and affection for Doug Cook. He truly was one of the giants of the sport and it's great to hear more about his personal side, his part in guiding your dad on to his successes, and through him, your successes. Thanks again for posting and please feel free to stick around and become part of the gang. bp

Heather,
This level of personal sharing is why I am proud to be affiliated with this board--and why I ask you to consider the above invitations to be a regular. What you share falls under the general catagory of 'Purity of Tone'- an appreciation of the sport which is not for sale. Thank you for a great end of a great day for me.

Thank you again, for all the kind words, and the welcome

This forum seems great, although I have not had much time to really take a look around. So you can garuntee that once I get an hour or so, I'll definately take a deep look into this site. Again, thank you for the kind words about my Great Uncle.

Heather sorry to hear about your loss. Thank you for letting us know your connections and feelings.
If I had paid attention in class back in school rather than spending my time drawing pictures of the "SWC" car drag racing against Big John's Willys I probably could have amounted to something!!!!
