Buddy of mine had some problems with Weld wheels - anybody else had any problems out of them?

What style? I've been running some old pro-stars and they've held up so far.

The Alumistars. Some problems around the beading. The whole tire was corroded pretty bad and ended up causing a crack.

I just realized this weekend that I'm running WELD front wheels... Never had a problem with them, and they are quite old and off a friend's car ((a hand-me-down so to speak)). I've never heard of them having any problems... but I'll ask my pops about it and see what he says. Hopefully nothing has damaged your car yet!

Nothing harmed so far, and hopefully not in the future.

I've been running a set of Pro Stars since 1992 (all 4 corners) had some damage to one of the fronts due to a rather abrupt confrontation with an Oak tree in '97 (travel related, NOT a racing incident  )....no other "issues" that "I" know of

sounds like someone used a caustic style cleaner on the rims causing them to corrode , I would contact weld and see what they have to say. the only damaged welds I have seen when I sold them, where from a guy who used wesleys bleach white on his tires and the stuff Chemically burnt the polished finish ( turned blue and black and etched the finish ) and where the wheel mounted it was fuzzy with corrosion
