The Reason We Do It......

I've had to do some serious thinking over the past month or so about our upcoming 1400 mile Draglist Nationals trip. With so many people backing out for various reasons that were going to bring their race cars, and now are not, I had to re-think our decision on whether we should really make the trip out to Iowa towing the car or just go with the motorhome. I made a number of phone calls yesterday getting some opinions, and ended up right back where I started due to half saying yes, and the other half saying no. One of the main reasons for making the trip out there was to race against another car that was somewhat close in performance, making the event even more exciting. Another reason is to meet up with the friends we made last year at this event, and also make a few more new ones. Well, it wasn't until last night, while going thru some old posts, that I came across my report from last years trip. Oh ya, we'll be there, and the yellow car will be right behind us all the way. If I have to get paired up with Rapid Randy Baker in the Nitro Madness AA/FA car, so be it, in fact, I'm rather looking forward to it now.

Here is the link to last year's report. Read it, and then do a search for other stories written around the same time, then you'll understand "The reason We Do It".

Thanks, Mike. Great stories. Every time I talk about the DLNs, I mention that we have one team that tows all the way from Massachusetts to run their car. (Which is then followed by descriptions of Boyd flying from British Columbia, Randy and Scott bringing their PRO level race car to run for free, and of course, EVERYONE who spends hundreds to thousands of dollars to come and who also take time out of their precious schedules). I am so flattered and appreciative that folks find our little online family so special that they will go WAY out of their way to attend and spend some time with their online pals. I just drove from D.C. to Omaha in a minivan, so I have only a tiny taste of that you guys experience in a motorhome with a big trailer behind you for that distance. All I can say is thanks and enjoy the spectacle when we all get there. THANK YOU for coming and bringing your car and THANKS to all the folks who are coming with or without cars, AND... thanks to the folks who worked up to the last minute on their rides and fell just a little short in the time department. I'm proud to be a part of this thing... bp
