My dad owned this car in 80-81 ran as a bracket car, he bought it from Jim wemett and it was called the WOMBAT.anyone have any pics of it??.......ERIK

Those are great shots. We just had a George Johnson join the board. Is this the same George that used to drive the Wemett car? Welcome either way, George! bp

Top shot is northwesterner Joe Clement. Bottom shots are Jim Wemett. Bear in mind that this Wemett 'Vette was nearly totalled in a two-car crash with Roy Harris' Trans Am at Darlington in '79.

bret this explains alot, my dad got the car from Jim and bracket raced it here art Cordova under the name "CARLSON&HEPNER" called the Country Corvette......he said the body had been repaired a bunch of times and was really heavy for an F/C body he also said he had a pic out of a hot rod mag of the car exploding the blower with the blower hanging over the hood.he said you could see where they hastily repaired it and spray bombed around the hole......they redid the body and repainted it white again with no stripes......dad hated the car..as he said you could not see out of it, and they never had very much motor in it so it was a handful with the solid suspension!!.they were gonna put a t body on it but never did he said it went to kentucky......as a funny side note the car dad had before this was an opel GT.dad is as big as me(6'5" 270) and he built the opel he had the throttle on the pass floor and he had to lean over to drive it.....he had the trans lock up in the lights and he went on his lid and back on the wheels.......when they bought the funnycar they ran it in primer first and had it lettered upside down!!.........long story but thought you'd like it.or maybe not??
