Where would we be without having had the great Art Arfons. I can't imagine the sport being what it is if he hadn't been there blowing everybody away with those hairy, scary Green Monsters and Cyclops cars...I was just out in my back yard, looking up at the sky and a satellite flew over...I thought to myself "There goes Art Arfons in his new ride..." A giant in the sport. WC and Racers for Coffee will have to do justice... as usual, I've only got time to hop in and say farewell, and Art deserves so much more than that. Thanks for the links. bp

Bill,

I'm dashing to work myself, and just got the word. I can only suggest the ban on "non-automotive engines" NHRA created as a result of Art's innovations was the tip of the iceberg. His 150mph top time at the '57 Okie City NHRA Nationals was a gas-only accomplishment I hope he valued til his death. The Salt Flats in the early '60's.....oh, man! 8)

Art & Breedlove swapped those land speed records back and forth.....well into the 80's.
Art was one smart cookie..Craig and he are innovating as we speak......
