For you guys that run, or have run wings, is there any rule of thumb as to what angle they should be set at? I've left mine at whatever angle it was at when I bought the car, but I'm running way faster than the car had ever been at that point. I'm just wondering if some of the back-end dancing could be calmed down with some more down force. Right now it's pretty flat - I was meaning to re-measure it to make sure what it was before I put the car up on the stands, but I forgot - but I think it's around 10 degrees or less.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hey Perry,..
take your digital angle and put it on the lower frame rail and zero it,..
then see what angle your wing has,...take note of that angle then add
1 degree increments of more angle untill you start to see MPH drop,..
then go back 1.5 degrees. or just adjust untill it stops skating around,..but dont be fooled by loose condition as appose to spinning the tires by power.
Depending on the wing itself some run 0 degrees to 2.0 degrees in their wings 200mph plus cars,..or untill they hit greasy tracks then they will have 2.5 to 3.250 depending on HP or grip.

Thanks Vic! I'll play with it and see what I get. I agree about the loose track issue - I think last weeks skating was due more to track because there were other cars besides me that were loose. I'm just collecting info - since the car is actually handling well now, I can start thinking about things like this...

Is your wing external?

on the long "wing" on the camaro...(see my avatar), (under power..0 to 2 degrees)
we used various "wicker bill " heights to dam air for more rear down force.

if external , same principle applies (i think)

Yeah - it's external Gator - stuck up on a couple struts above the back of the car.

I measured it this weekend - it's at 3.5 degrees right now.

Smoother track and less wind this weekend and the car was very stable, so I'm going to leave it where it is for now.

Guys, FWIW last year when i was having problems with my car getting loose at the big end Gator and a few others here suggested the wicker bill i added a small 3/4" tall one and it really mad a difference!!......ERIK

I had a nice wicker bill, but the dog ate it up. I'll get a derby next time.
