I heard about this crash yesterday as well from a friend who is working on Jay Payne's car. Another driver is gone and it is sooo sad! My thoughts are with his family and friends and anyone whose life that was touched.

Bobby was what grass roots drag racing is all about and a fixture here in the east for I guess 40 years. He was one of the members of the old East Coast Injected Funny Car circuit back in the late 60s early 70s and also drove blown nitro cars. His independent run Alky cars have been on the local scene here pretty much since the first floppers showed up in the area and Bobby has run just about every east coast venue I know of from cowpasture outlaw tracks to divisional and national events.Bobby did a hell of a lot with limited funds and sometimes less than 1st class equipment and if you were around him every round win was like he just won the Nationals
My condolences to the Martindale family and all of Bobbys many friends and fans in the area.
He will be greatly missed.

I am Bobby's great nephew. On behalf of the family, I would like to thank everyone for their kind words. I will pass them along. If anyone has any stories they would like to share, I will pass them along too.

If anyone could point me in the direction of Bobby's username here I would appreciate it. I would like to sift through his old posts and see if there is anything there worth saving in printed form.

Thanks again..

Hi. We are so sorry for your loss. I just looked for some of Bobby's posts. No luck yet, but will look for more. Bobby emailed me on occasion. I think he was a board member, but I need to review some more. bp
