As per morebetter99's call yesterday...thanks, Pete.

One of the last remaining links to the origin of an American art form, Hubert created an atmosphere and environment of sound and expression that was far beyond anything a stack of hi-tech amps and stompboxes could ever conjure. His body of work encapsulated the true spirit of The Blues. Simply beautiful.

Rest in peace, Mr. Hubert Sumlin, and Thank You. You are free at last. WC1

PS: Special thanks to Mick Jagger and Keith Richards for paying for Hubert's funeral costs.

Hubert Sumlin was born in 1931 in Greenwood, Mississippi, later moved to Hughes, Arkansas and grew up there. He was given his first guitar at the age of 6. Through a series of encounters and networking, he joined Howlin' Wolf's band in Chicago in 1955 and played alongside the legend until Wolf's death in 1976, save for a brief spell in Muddy Waters' band in 1956. After Howlin' Wolf passed away, Hubert continued with the existing group under the name "The Wolf Pack" and recorded a few solo albums through 2004. One of the great things that Howlin' Wolf did for Hubert (Wolf himself was illiterate) was to send him to a classical guitar instructor at the Chicago Musical College. Later, Hubert played on the album "Howlin' Wolf", also known as "The Rockin' Chair Album", which was named the third greatest guitar album of all time by Mojo Magazine in 2004. Hubert was inducted in to the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame in 2008, he was nominated for 4 Grammy Awards...won multiple Blues Music Awards, and played with Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Levon Helm, David Johansen and James Cotton on his last solo project, "About Them Shoes"...he was a rock-solid musician and a great influence on sidemen playing in group contexts throughout his life. Rest in peace, great Bluesman. WC1
