Just got off the phone with Leroy's wife, Joan. Arrangements are still being finalized at:
Parsels Funeral Home
324 New Jersey Avenue
Absecon, New Jersey 08201
Phone: (609) 641-0071
Leroy and his group were great to be around. Never once did I hear him complain about anything. His positive, upbeat sense of humor made you forget ALL your troubles.
I'll definitely miss our times together

Leroy was a terrific guy and one of the true highlights of the first Funny Car Reunion. He was a delight to be around and was cracking jokes with everyone. He also was instrumental in helping Phil Elliott transport his Nitro Nova to the West Coast from its original home... and he did it just out of friendship. Leroy also was one of the few match race drag racers to get some TV time. Remember when he drove his Blue Moon Fiat altered on the match race show that featured Al Hanna, Animal Jim, etc.? Farewell, Leroy, you were a great friend. Here are some select photos and quotes. bp

I was fortunate enough to attend FCR1. It was an enjoyable weekend with Bill and Tim Pratt where we visited with a bunch of historical figures and watched a couple dozen historical and hysterical floppers at Englishtown. I suspect that my best memory (beyond the great time I had with Bill and Tim and Bill’s family) was in meeting an internet friend (LeRoy Blackman) and the worst was in seeing Rob Bruce’s Zombie and Frank Jonkman’s Nitromare turn into trash. - Phil Elliott

Leroy, his wife Joan, and John Seylor were the first people I met when I started attending nostalgia meets. We became friends very quickly! Everyone was welcome in his pit and he and Joan always made me feel like family. I will miss Leroy tremendously. Here's a few pictures of Leroy as I will always remember him.
Lucas Oil event at ATCO, October 2004.

Funny Car Reunion, July 2005 (the last time I saw him)
Rest in Peace, Leroy.

Fantastic shots. Thanks for the memories of a great guy, Jeff. Like someone mentioned on the Good Morning thread (about that thread), I thought I had responded to this... I'll have to keep an eye on this thing... don't want to be losing valuable posts! bp
