Gordon " Flash " Mineo

Gordon " Flash " Mineo, who raced funny cars in the 70's, died in a boating accident along with his wife, daughter and son-in-law. A driveline failure caused his boat to turn 90 degrees in front of another boat causing a collision of the 2 boats. God speed to you and thank you for the memories.

Mineo had a dry sense of humor characterized by the legendary, hysterical burnout-on jacks poster that so many of my generation had tacked to garage walls. His participation in the Coke FC circuit as a major headliner made for a home (ala the Grand Am series..) to run small tracks and 1st gen. FC stars-both of whom seemed to benefit. Sad this made national news, when his ingenuity was the biggest story. Farewell, Flash.
