Butch Salter's A/D
by Pete Garramone
Here's a shot of my friend, Butch Salter, running his A/D in June of
'64. Butch built the chassis and engine. He did all the wrenching on this
car and took Comp. Eliminator more times than he didn't. This was before
computers and Butch kept a comprehensive log on every run the car made. As
you can see, he runs a little rich at the starting line. I could always
expect a slight wheel stand every time he launched the car. For the young
folks in the crowd, Butch ran about 12 lbs. of blower boost. What are they
running now, 40-45 lbs.?
