The Grave Digger is Comin' For YOU!

With its piercing red "eyes" and malevolent black and green flamed body, the '41 Willys known as the Grave Digger is one of the most awesome, and feared, supercharged Pro Modified cars to ever cast its evil shadow on the two-lane blacktop. 

Owned by Ken and Sylvia Westbrook, and driven by its builder Alan Pittman, this South Carolina-based beast is horror personified when turned loose on its favorite hunting grounds. Now, home state fans will get the rare opportunity to witness the Grave Digger at its overtly aggressive best when it roars into Ware Shoals Dragway on Saturday, August 17. 

The event is the kick-off of an exciting new era in drag racing for fans throughout the Southeast as the entity known as Classic Southern Thunder comes belligerently to life. This newly formed group is dedicated to bringing the best nostalgia funny cars, gassers, and front engine fuel cars, as well as other unique and exciting drag racing machinery, before as many fans as possible. 

Organizer Bob Gettys was thrilled to announce that Pittman and the entire Westbrook Motorsports team would be on hand to give the new organization a memorable send-off, not only on the track on Saturday, but also at Friday's car show at Cross Creek Mall in Greenwood, South Carolina. 

If you've never experienced the awesome six-second Grave Digger "up close and personal," here's your chance. Check it out at Cross Creek Mall on Friday, and then head over to Ware Shoals Dragway on Saturday for the sensory thrill of a lifetime as Pittman coaxes the wicked 2,500-horsepower beast to life.
