Win This Art: Barry Setzer's Monocoque
Dragster

The Barry Setzer Monocoque dragster by Jeff Teaford
Here is the latest...
This is a car I had been meaning to draw, but couldn't find the angle. I'll probably detail the rearend some more, but for now this is it. The push bar has been eliminated, but will also be very briefly detailed in highlights only.
John Buttera fabbed this car from sheet magnesium, in much the same way aircraft are assembled (lots of rivets and bonding). Barry Setzer purchased the car and intended to give the car all the funding needed to set the world on fire. Turns out the car was just too stiff to perform up to its' theoretical potential.
This car is considered by many to be the most beautiful drag racing machine (the word rail just doesn't seem appropriate here) ever constructed. The piece seen here is as it looked around 1972. Very cool. Very aerodynamic!
Actual image size is 4"X10"ish. Lots of colored pencil and ink here. My scanner through some weird reflections into the mix, but the original is really clean.
Gotta' have it? Tell us why. We'll pick a winner on or about April
1.
