Goodguys Nitro Nationals at Pomona: Part 1

A/Gas Brad Chaffee's '67 Chevy II and Mark Mahood's '69 Camaro with the laundry out on Friday.

Top Fuel Sean Bellemuer warming up the M&H's Friday night. He then ripped off a super 5.976 sec 249.58 lap on the slippery track.

Goodguys' two Honored Guests were announcing legend Dave McClelland and Tom "The Mongoose" McEwen. Goodguys John Drummond introducing the famous pair to the crowd.

NE1 Ronnie Lemon and his very popular '47 Crowsley Friday night.

Top Fuel Howard Haight won the March Meet, was runner-up at Sonoma and with some lucky breaks won here at Pomona.

AA/GS Chris Abbey not only blew the doors off the competition but even knocked off some caps of the track crew. Chris won the event in spectacular fashion.

Pat McDonald won the C/Gas event with his '63 Chevy II after qualifying #7 out of 45 entries for the popular C/Gas class.

Mike Boyd surpassed the 200 mph barrier for Pomona Saturday night on this pass in Hall of Famer Mousie Marcellus' famous Winged Express. Then he shattered that mark with a 205 mph pass to close the show on Sunday.

Dan Schrokosch won the NE1 event with incredibly consistent times. He knocked off the current champ Don Taros in the Final Round. Dirty Dan is for real!

Top Fuel Pete Kaiser qualified 6th with a 6.052 sec 240.64 mph effort.

Larry Pettit won the Funny Car title in his beautiful '71 Mustang. Larry outran every car he faced including Ron Capps in Jeff Gaynor's car in Round One.

Junior Fuel winner Scott Parks returns to his winning ways with a hole shot in the Final Round against a quicker Jon Haire.

Current D/Gas champ Ed Carey continues winning in his '71 Camaro with a win at Pomona.

The beautiful '33 Willys of John Woods qualified #6 for C/Gas with a 9.664 on the 9.60 Index.

Randy Winkle qualified 11th for NE2 and then proceeded to win the event with his clean rail.
